yo.. anyone interested in a mtb ride? I'm gonna head into the Don at some point this morning methinks.

I'm working myself up to it (tea, etc.) ... let me know if you're still around.

So that's two semi-nasty spills in the Don for me this week. At least the ice cream man tended to me with hydrogen peroxide and a band-aid (and ice cream!). :P

Birthday bumps, indeed!

Oh no ... what happened after we split up?

Remember that wooden ramp thing that goes up, between two trees, and then back down again? On the river trail? The one that I said I've wanted to try for a while, but I keep wussing out? Yeah, that happened. :)

We did the ridge (where you parted ways), then we did catalyst twice (did it in both directions), then we did P-A. I was feeling really good so coming back the flats when I saw that I just went for it.. I guess I'd never scouted it as well as I thought as I didn't realize it had a ~20 degree turn as you go through the two trees.. So, when I came down the other side about half way down my front wheel dropped off the side. I did a nice little pogo off my front suspension and had a nice tumble. Scrapes and bruises.. I'll live!

I'm fairly certain I'm asking the wrong crowd, but does anyone have an all-mountain/freeride bike they'd lend me for a weekend? :) I got invited to do some DH stuff at Calabogie Peaks next weekend, and I don't think a light steel xc bike is going to cut it!

i have a heavy dirtjumper that you can borrow.

single speed old norco onehun 26/24 with front suspension i thin 80cm of travel. there is a set of hookworm tires on it right now but i do have a set of gazzaloodi for the mud if you feel like hurting your hands to change the tires.

That would be this coming or the 15th weekend? You can use the Kona if you like....its only 5" in the back but the fork can be dialed to 130mm up front. New chain and a fully rebuilt rear-end FTW!

This coming weekend, the 8th. Caitlin suggested a bike with 5" (or more, obviously), so that will likely work out. I'll let you know if I'm definitely gonna be going.

Thanks dudes!

hey guys, just a quick question: I'm an Intn'l student in the middle of the wonderful process of applying for work papers (third time trying, still seem to be making little progress). I do, however, need money, and being a bike courier seems like a good option; I heard that courier companies will often hire people in similar situations to mine. My question to you is: does anyone on here have any leads that I can use? I've been cold-calling companies, but am being met with little success, or promises to "call me back". I'm going to try the "asking actual couriers" route as well, but I figured that posting on here can't hurt. Thanks in advance.

Yeah did the 20 km race, so, four 5km laps.

I got third overall, but, being 18 I was in a separate age group all by myself so I was on the podium all alone.

UT isn't even in session yet and the stupid engineers are going to their stupid parade. Someone should announce that half of them aren't even going to graduate.

That should spoil their fun

No Freeride bike to offer but if anyone is interested in heading up to BlueMountain sometime this month for some end of the season DH lemme know. This is of course assuming they are actually staying open until Oct 8 as promised. Apparently a kid was paralyzed last month and it prompted them to remove all man-made stunts and anything that resulted in "new school airs and gaps".

I heard that he was riding a XC bike. I believe that they are going to be rebuilding when the situation clears up. (quote a military guy riding a downhill bike at Ravenshoe (!?))

Queen's Engineers are also doyoye. Their leather jacket slapping on the road gave grandmas heart attacks.

Hey guys, I'm back in Canada after a hellishly long and delayed train trip all the way from San Diego. Anyways, I'm starting my trip back to Toronto in 2 days so I should be back late august. I updated my blog with a ton of photos if you're curious. http://thedoublecross.blogspot.com

Cheers!

I was looking for Eyefloater... I was going back through the pages looking for a link...

Man, I know I didn't know Charlie as well as some... but think we should do something that will keep things alive.

More people need to walk/TTC/bike in this city... Does any one have any ideas? Does anyone want to get together to talk about them???

I picked up a new pair of Shimano MP66 shoes yesterday to replace my 2-year old, shiite-hauled ones. I don't think I've ever replaced a pair of shoes with the same model before. It feels weird.. They feel really "blocky" or something because the soles are still square. :P Plus my cleats don't contact the ground anymore. :)

Goddamnit. Really? I bought them at Urbane. That's the only place I've ever seen them before, so I didn't shop around. I already have the cleat dingdongs cut out, so I guess it's too late. Unless I buy a pair at Sweet Pete's and return them to Urbane. ;)

Nice! That green ink is amazing. I've sketched so many designs with "ride or die" in them as well, but I'm still a complete tattoo virgin. :P Good song too.. :)

edit: whaaaaaat? You mention Dave Munro in Newfoundland.. That was unexpected. (I grew up in St. John's)

Also: I thought I saw our very own FilipeBarbosa today on my lunch break when a big-ass unicycle turned down Markham St a ways ahead of me. I turned down only to discover it wasn't you, Fil, but someone who knows you. Geoff/Jeff? Bearded dude. That is all.

Umm.. I'm not sure, I think I've met him. Did he live in Montreal before moving to St. John's? Did he work elsewhere in St. John's before Trouble Bound? I moved here in 2000, and yes, time really does fly.

ATTN: Shop dudes.

Do any of you carry Thomson / would you be interested in a trade of sorts?

I got a new stem in the mail today and it's not what I wanted but I'd lose shipping to send it back so I'm wondering if anyone would be interesting in trading for the stem that I actually want.

What I've got:
110mm
Thomson Elite
1 1/8"
26.0 clamp
-10 degree

What I want:
100mm
Thomson Elite
1 1/8"
26.0 clamp
-10 degree

I know it's only 10mm but when you're paying this much for a stem - you want what you want.
Any takers? ;)

Umm.. I'm not sure, I think I've met him. Did he live in Montreal before moving to St. John's? Did he work elsewhere in St. John's before Trouble Bound? I moved here in 2000, and yes, time really does fly.

Yeah - he worked tattooing out of some salon downtown before opening up Trouble Bound. I forget the name but somehow I think it sounds something like Technotronic. hahaha

YA KID K!

Tectonics, so close. :) Then yeah, I met the guy a few times. Weird stuff!

edit: must listen to music quickly so that song doesn't get stuck in my head!

Jeff Groves! yeah he is an awsome rider! that kid is super fast if you ever wanna try racing him. he had his bike stolen recently so he is commuting on the monster Coker till we get my spare frame built up for him.

Am I the only one that disregarded everything Filipe just wrote and sat there giggling at the thought of a man "commuting on a monster cock"? Probably... that's ok.

Is it Friday yet?

A heads up for the larger members here. I have a 61cm Cannondale road bike in here that I want to let go cheap. It is complete except for wheels, saddle and post. It has a slice carbon fork....105 9speed shifters, ders, cranks, brakes etc.....comes with the matching 9sp cassette. I want to blow it out for $200 if anyone is interested. Figured I would give the good B.F. members a shot before I put it on the C.L. P.M. me if interested.
