urbane has. only yellow or white @ the moment.
and yellow is on sale. Its in the 60-75 $ range for 1 rim.

I think you should just go on the 'bay to get a pair.

Bah I looked. The only stuff they have is like, 26" rims, but it is in the exact colour I want though. And they were Bin'ing for like $50 a pair :/

Sometimes I wish i lived in the states just so I could buy a whole bunch of cheap stuff then smuggle it across the border.

I was about to GIS "school girls" and post something offensive ... but I realized I'm at work and would rather like to keep this job. ;)

PS. So I'm rocking a Zefal "Flamingo" fender on the KHS. Anyone tried out the Zefal "Swan" fenders ... I'm thinking about getting one of them for the next bike.

PPS. Can a Brooks Swallow be justified on a Pake?

i believe all clip-on fenders are created equal. alright for keeping the dirt stripe off your back/bag in a downpour but otherwise you'll be soaked.

and a brooks cab be justified on any bike so long as you ride the piss out of it.

I just took my gf out for dinner for her bday and on our way down Front St. E. I saw that Europe Bound had THREE track bikes in the window. 2 Fuji's and a Louis Garneau (?!). They're everywhere!

Shiznaz: what time was the incident at Yonge/Davenport? I actually bought lunch from the chip-wagon in front of Canadian Tire today. :)

On an unrelated note: I'm starting to get some creaking while doing any sort of pedal resisting... any suggestions? This was happening the last time I brought my bike to urbane for the chainring bolt issue and the tall-lanky-guy-who's-name-I-never-remember checked the tightness of the crankbolts into the BB.. but it's still doing it. I guess it could just be the BB, eh?

Ya, all I really want to do is keep the ass spray off - a general fine mist of filth never bothers me. Any downpour will have me changing into a fresh set of clothes once I get to work anyway.

Swap pedals out. grease BB cups? Cleats? Could be seatpost as well. Actually hell it could be anything.

when he checked the crank bolts did he remove them and apply some grease to the bolts before putting them back, as well as greasing the crank arm itself?

cavit8
03-23-06, 06:42 AM
A loose crank is a pretty common cause of creaking, but check your chain ring bolts as well. They can be the source of many a mystery noise.

Park tool has a pretty good diagnostic path for creaks

holy cow shiznaz, i'm glad you're ok and were able to walk away from it. are you totally sure the bike's ok? check it out again after you've had some time to relax and slap him with a claim so his premiums will go up if you find anything. it's a bit of pain when you have to deal with the adjuster but it's worth it if the damage is high. what are the chances of getting that menace off the road? what a character... what ****ing pisses me off is that ****ing clueless pedestrians actually think riding with traffic is "too fast".
Shurely you need a new frame and wheels? :)

I've got full-coverage SKS fenders on the urbanite (actually on my other bike as well); to me, they make a big difference in my overall comfort while riding. my feet stay drier, my chainring and chain have less gunk sprayed up into it from the front wheel. they're black, on a black frame so they don't look too offensive. it's the main reason that i bought one of urbane's new frames, the first urbanite frame i had had no clearance for fenders and no eyelets either. i've got 700x28 tires in there with the fenders. no complaints. have you got one of their recent frames?

yeah, those halvesies fenders can be a pain to set up and maintain.

check to see if it has eyelets on the fork and at the track ends. and yes i believe i bought the fenders at urbane. or at europe bound. anyway, they both sell them. $30 or so.

Cavernmech - I'm looking for a 1" threaded fork with room for widish tires and fender eyelets, for use with a long reach dual pivot. do you have anything like that? i prefer to stay away from those replacememtn 27" forks made of cheap tange or hi-ten or whatever. something a little nicer.

Man, I hate cabs...I wonder if ours are worse than other cities? It seems like everyone I know has either been hit by a cab while walking or cycling or driving...is it possible that we have the worst cab drivers in the world?

I think it is really easy to get a driver's license and there are so many cabs out there, getting a fare becomes a competitive thing, so racing onto sidewalks or knocking down cyclists to get that passenger is almost commonplace.

cavit8
03-23-06, 02:58 PM
Yeah, well, I'm moving to smaller digs so I need to dump the frame along with my Brodie Electro and clean out my parts bin...

moki, depending where on the prairies you are (I'm a flatlander myself), check out the Alberta Bike Forum classifieds. You'll sometimes see track bikes come up there. The Calgary Bicycle Track League has a classifieds, but it's pretty lame.

It's a risky, brutal job where you're getting economically exploited and are the target racist police tactics. While I can understand why they may be aggressive for fares, it doesn't excuse driving like maniacs. Touch wood, I've never had a real problem with them.

I'll be on utoronto campus, so anywhere streetcarable but not too far is fine. Kensington sounds cool. That veggie soup sounds cool. Where is this place.

it's patty king on baldwin in the market. some baldwin landmarks you might remember: planet kensington, the army surplus store, cheese magic.. the bong store..tom's place (suits).. pho and saigon subs are always a walk away too. the patty king soup is pretty damn good though.

So are we talking Saturday? I've seen a few dates floating around . If Kensingon is getting a little stale, maybe we need to move 'hoods a bit. I'm over in Little Chinatown/Little India area.

Pho Hung's got some decent combos for "teh cheap" ... but whatev's is cool by me. Operator's going to be having the biggest hassle to meet up since he's rocking the street car so I leave it to his good judgement.

Brian Eno - Another Green World (1975, I believe). How great an album is this thing? Everytime I listen to it I feel a bit amazed that dude was a good 30 years ahead of his time.
