Wesley: What's the info for your band's show? There's one this thursday (tomorrow) right? Is there another one coming up?

Yeah, tomorrow night @ Lee's Palace ($5). We're supposed to be the 2nd band on, starting at 10:15.. but apparently the 1st band dropped out. Not sure if the schedule will be affected.

Thanks. I don't always check my Facebook invites. I had actually seen yours but I forgot about it. If you guys play at 10:15 I'll most likely be there. If earlier, then I don't know... I'll see what I can do. I want to go for sure. ROCK AND ROLL

woo! yeah! rock!

So, anyone up for a ride out to the cx race on Saturday morning, check out the races for a while and then go grab some foodbeer someplace (perhaps fish 'n chips)?

Report cards due tomorrow, most likely no racing for me tonight.

Wes, I might be able to make it for tomorrows show after catering.

Financial blackhole 4tw!

You no like?

Well it's a great light for the price (where else are you going to get waterpoof 4xAA 200L light for $99USD) but it's just not bright enough for me. On completley unlit paths, it's great up till around 25kph. But on the streets it's washed out by the streetlights. And the whole reason I wanted it was to be able to see between the lights. For the price however, it still beats the MEC Nitehawk K2 emitters - $200 for 3w LED? No thanks.

So next up for me is the 13w HID system from batteryspace ($200). Supposedly 740-750lumens. Which is brighter than the Dinotte 600L ($399USD). I'm just really picky with my lights. I need something with long runtime, non proprietary battery, not heavy and super bright = $$$.

Are Koolstop brake pads better than Shimano?

Koolstops are the only pads you ever need to buy, they're like $10. The best! And it also comes in cool wet weather red pads which matches my frame colour.

Hey op, are you still selling your aerobars and if so, what's the clamp size?

I don't have them anymore, but the profile centuries have a shim to 26.0 bars and nonshimmed 31.8. I can get you a good deal on a profile basebar & carbon aerobars (< $50). Pm me if you're interested.

Wes: I can come tomorrow for sure! If you are going to be on earlier what time would that be? 9:15? I don't want to miss it. Will you know ahead of time what the schedule will be? I will write another sentence in the form of a question to make it an even number of questions?

So watching BT this morning and seeing the CX stuff on TV I mention this is where the guys are racing this weekend. "So why aren't you?", says she. "Me?", says I.

So...at the last minute. Who can i contact when I get to the office about how much it cost to run? What day would I be racing in the old and slow, Cat nOOb? Keith would it be possible to tech the TBL? Dang I still don't have a 22 in the back. 44x18.

It's $30 if you pre-register here: http://www.integratedsports.net/oca/ocaeventregistration.asp. $50 if you register at the event. All the slacker races are just being held on Sunday morning @ 10:00, including myself & Mike in S3/4 and Keith in M3. There's also a "beginner m&f" race, but I'm not sure if that's just for kiddies or not.

However you may want to contact the commisaire, Craig, at cfagan@sympatico.ca to confirm that one-day licenses will 100% be available before you pre-reg. Although I think Keith may have confirmed this already..?

Honestly bro....you are gonna be in for a world of hurt trying to race a S.S. Mtn bike on that course. Especially with the gear you are running. I would say the highest gear you would want would be a 44X22....and even that is gonna be super tough. If we had a bit more time maybe I could rig something up...but with 2 days to go it would be difficult. Call Bobby and ask him if he has something for you to borrow....like the Cannondale?

Day six of not smoking, almost at the one week mark! I've been having smoking-related dreams which result in either horrendous cravings while asleep or equally bad feelings of guilt immediately upon waking up (before I realize I'm remembering a dream and not the day before).

Hopefully before the end of the cx season I'll notice some marginal improvement in my results. Next year's xc and cx seasons should kick ass though. Plus there's that more money for bike swag thing and the whole not dying of cancer bit (just keep reminding yourself, man ... over and over).

For the cx race this weekend someone on the cx-ontario website asked how many stakes they use to tape the course. One of the organizers responded:

"Between the 2 courses this year we will use approx 1800 stakes and 14+ kms of caution tape. about 45 rolls."

Yowzers!

Schweet, hope it works out for you TJ :) Nice video, really neat watching the kids take part (esp. that one struggling up that hill near the tree :))

Maybe one day I'll try my hand at it, would need a bike for that though - looks like fun.

Idiot me bought canti brakepads, so I had to return and swap out for the Jagwire road pads they had - thanks to MEC for doing a return without receipt, w00t. Koolstops for post-winter methinks.

Congrats on the giving the boot to the cancer-sticks, shapelike... Big move, good stuff.

Yeah jer, I figured I could mount them on, but without the nuts I needed I couldn't be bothered playing about with it - I needed to change the pads out Tuesday, so I just exchanged and put them on last night before my ride west from the ex's.

I'd ride out Wes but it'd probably be rude to abandon my visiting family :p

Poor bike is desperately needing a clean from all the crap this week - Tuesday night was fun, especially since it was then I discovered my rear pads were down to the plastic. Russell Hill Rd. southbound from ~Eglinton in the wind/rain/dark with only a front brake... Yeah, fun times :D Was passed by a roadie who looked to be doing hill training on Poplar Plains Rd (he circled back up there, the nutter).

I've personally put over 5000km on this bike now, so I think I should probably change the chain out now too... (it's a geared roadie) thoughts?

Use a ruler.. line up the 0 mark with the center of a pin.. the 12" hash mark should also line up with a pin-center. If not, new chain for you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

On November 17th Cycle Therapy is having another auction to clear out some stock before we move downstairs. We're losing a whole floor of storage and retail space so there's a lot to get rid of.

On auction will be bikes, parts, tools, accessories, apparel and anything else interesting we come across. Get in touch if you want specfics on items or just more info in general. The auction will start at noon and run for a few hours.

Use a ruler.. line up the 0 mark with the center of a pin.. the 12" hash mark should also line up with a pin-center. If not, new chain for you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Groovy, thanks. I'll check 'er at lunch. Update: it's stretched quite a bit by the looks (expected, I never changed it when inheriting the bike) Now, being the backyard halfwitted mechanic that I am, a 7-speed chain is a 7-speed chain, right? I want to go and get a new one soon.

If it's worn enough you're gonna need a new cassette too.

Noice... Any FG wheel type stuff? I need rims, hubs, cog+lockring.. ideally black rims if you have any (Open Pros? :D) I guess I also need a bunch of other crap for my fixie too... Do you have any black cranksets in 165/170mm and 130BCD? A matching 68x110 BB for that would be cool, too...

I appear to be mentally spending all my paycheque here... hmm :p

Yeah that's a concern... my hub/cassette and stuff is old school... I don't want to spend much on this bike due to the frame damage, I also don't want it to break.

I think Sheldon Brown's site has a rule of thumb on when you just need to do the chain and when the cassette too. When in doubt, buy the chain and try it on the cassette. If it skips a lot, then you know you need to replace that too. Don't let it go too long skipping though, since you can damage the chain and be in the same spot.

Hey guys, is this a "sticker auction" silent bid type thing or a calling auction like you'd see to sell cattle or antiques? Also is it day or night? Just wondering cause I like auctions and I'm sure of where I'll be that night already. If it's a daylight thing I'll drop in, but night belongs to La Carrera for me..or maybe both, depending on the hours
