wooohooo that would be fun..... you know of course i'm blowin smoke and having fun...:p
Never even thought about going into the shoe.
Mine has this separator that runs done the middle of the sole, if you've got the old atacs you know what I mean.... It might just be time for a new set O shoes.
have you got the 1st generation time's with that super-long cleat? those shoes / pedals aren't compatible with modern spd systems? yeah, it might be time for a new set of shoes. check at Duke's; this time of year they seem to be clearing out the last years stock to make room for the latest and greatest.
of course i know you're blowing smoke, i still think we should have a low-tech throw down: a cut-off dickes and rusty 3 speed race!

yeah, streamers and a big basket on the front so the bike handles all tippy. oh and a horn and some sort of stuffed animal zip tied to the frame.
man, northstar runners, that's zellars 1982, yo. takes me back. and yes, pony's will do. i remember wanting those as a kid becuase there was a poster of spud webb a la playing for the atlanta hawks way back when on my wall. enough of this nostalgia, i want to go riding? who else is going to be out pedalling after work?

The more people there are in it the more law enforcement is out there in the rain and thunder. A shame political activism is dependent on good weather, man are we EVER apathetic in this country. lol , not a dis but an observation.

I was just wondering if anyone here rides a Fuji Track Pro. I want to know how they ride on the street. I have seen one courier guy on one but was going the opposite way when I saw him and couldn't ask him his opinion. I have played around with the Pista Concept on display at Urbane and really like the feel of aluminium but think that the Track Pro is a better deal. Any thoughts?

At Yonge and Dundas when on break I see three messengers go by on Fuji Pro's all the time just hang there and chase them down .P.S. I saw a messenger there who's bike frame was covered in carpet.

If it is Bianchi spec ie: Sugino 75`s and Cane Creek wheels, you would be hard pressed to find a nicer off the peg bike. Also the Bianchi frame is much nicer imho. I am not aware of the price difference but if it were me....and I could afford either....I would take the Bianchi hands down. If you want to trade the wheels for some clinchers the price should come down a few bucks.

Bianchi. you can't ever go wrong...too many years of building bikes to ignore.

Hrm, good advice guys, thanks. Did anyone notice those CL postings regarding track bikes? Two in the last two days, I think it is the same guy, any input on those frames that are "handcrafted in a little shop in taiwan that only does high end frames" for only $300. The listing is "toronto eastend downtown" and the photo is in front of a bike shop I don't recognize, what do you guys think? Sketchy?

I'd just buy the frames Cavern was selling if it was $300.
What's the worst that could happen if you just go to have a boo at them?

That’s pollys bike in front of his old shop pollys recycle i know he had some made a while ago i'm sure he has some left? Don’t know much about the frame it’s self. He’s hard to get ahold of but worth a look lot’s of goodies in his shop.
Cheers
P.S. maybe that guy bought it from Polly?
Maybe its Cogs cycle near logan on gerrard. That guy had a Polly frame for sale in there.
It's pretty nice looking in person.
Nice guy that cogs guy.

hmmmmm.....handcrafted....little shop........Taiwan. The trifecta of oxy-morons right there. It is indeed a Polly frame. Some people love em...some people hate em. They are very street. Not a bike for Forest City thats for sure. I used to sell a few of em a year for Polly. Rumour has it....well he told me actually....that he is doing some new frames. More track geometry. I believe the name was to be Zombie cycles. I suggested Answer My Door in a Housecoat Cycles...but he didnt like it.

Hrm, the photo in the CL listing made the geometry seem tighter; this pic I can see that it is quite relaxed. It isn't a bad price though, maybe the Zombie ones that Cavernmech mentioned will be tighter. Thanks again for the input guys.

I'll be there. The shop "closes" at 7pm, but I'll make sure to be out the door by then. I've got Somna and T.J.'s cell #s, so I'll hit up a pay phone and track you guys down once I'm close. And **** rain. The temperature will be warm so let's go out and have some fun. Worst case scenario: we all suffer through getting our asses soaked, then we go back to my place and throw our **** in the dryer for a half hour.
Drinking shall then ensue. Oh yes, it shall.

I'm in for CM, but I may be late getting down there, probably more like 6:30. Is the route always the same? If it's like last time, it won't be hard to catch up-5 km/hr is blistering fast for these things.
Also, if anyone feels like it, I'm probably going to ride the donut ride on Sunday, if the weather is good. I want to get some miles on my road bike, I am out of shape.

Yeah, it's a big roadie-in-spandex, carbon fiber parade type ride, 70-90 km, every Saturday and Sunday. In the summer there are 200+ riders. Starts at 9am, at Laird and Eglinton, and heads north of the city. Stops mid ride at a bakery-thus "donut".

speaking of bags, has anyone here ever used any backpack-style mess bags? I'd like to give one a try, but I've never seen anything but the Ortleib ones in any stores here. I know Chrome/Reload make them as well, but no stores carry much of their stuff. I've only ever seen two Chrome bags hanging in Bikes On Wheels once. They're pretty expensive, so I don't really want to order one without checking them out in person first.

i've never tried them becuase i prefer the one shoulder thing (kind of the essence of a messenger bag) but i noticed that they sell chromes at curbside cycle in the annex. maybe they have a backpack style there? IMO, the baddest of the bad muthas of messenger backpacks is the pac designs deluxe with the "X" strap.
i need to put my 46t chainring back on; i huffed and puffed and just couldn't keep up withe cyclops-man. maybe i'm just out of shape; oh yeah, that's it.

If you can afford them I've never seen anything that tops the PAC bags as work bags. The X-strap and the ridiculously over-the-top construction makes them just about the best investment you can make. The problem is that they are really expensive (fair when you look at the workmanship and materials) and it can take awhile to get your hands on one when your order them.
Curbside did have the Chrome backpack when I was in there last but they have been shifting around stock so quickly that who knows what will be in there next time.
I'm personally saving for a beatiful PAC deluxe with X-strap, hidden pocket, lock strap and a custom front panel <drools> but first I need my frame to finish being airbrushed (can't hurrt art though) and built up so I can enjoy spinning when its THIS NICE OUTSIDE.

the custom bags take a while to get but if you can live with a stock colour then you can always call them and ask what they have in. i got mine shipped to me and it took about a week, but would have waited to get it if i had to. although push the envelope bags look just as good quality to me, even smarter in design in some ways. plus you can stroll into urbane and talk to the person who sews them. anyone know if they're making their hip pouches anymore? i sold mine last year (stupid) and now i want another one. don't seem to have them at the usual spots though...

yeah, my bag is just my ever day bag (I'm a nerd by trade). I currently have a large Timbuk2 bag, but it's been annoying me. Nothing seems to sit right in it, and stuff is always jabbing me in the back. Plus I find the parts where the strap attaches are somewhat stabby as well. Some extra pockets would be nice also. I'm not opposed to just finding a different 1-shoulder affair, but it just seems like a backpack would help with some of those things also (especially one with a lightly padded back).
re: CM: Does anyone want to meet up before? I get off at 5:00 and I work at Bay & Davenport. I'm thinking about just going someplace for a coffee to kill time.
