I feel like I'm in 1986 asking this, but my Aunt is looking for a mini Am FM radio she can listen to while she's in the hospital. It would be one with headphones and ideally be digital. However, I can't seem to locate any. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, we Torontonians are such wimps, it is true. We will never live down that time Mel Lastman called in the troops for what turned out to be a 10 cm flurry. In his defence, the storm that hit a couple of weeks before that one was really bad and the city was basically shut down. I must have helped move at least 25 cars off of the street car tracks along Queen street.

Too much snow + stupid drivers = wheels parked on the tracks.

i remember walking along college street thinking "why are all these people staring at me more than ususal?" and then i turned around and saw it was a tank coming down the street behind me that they were staring at! i felt so insignificant.

I'm calling it a snow day for the shop, but I do plan to attempt to ride my mountain bike to the humber and back along the lakeshore trail for fun. That could either be fun or difficult. Or both.

I'm all set with clip on fenders and 35psi :)

I was tempted to ride down to little India until I saw AdventureBoy TM scream by in his Suburban Adventure Vehicle. Doubtless on his way to pick up drycleaning or some other tribulation.

And the city grader just went by and filled the bike lane.

I was shoveling the snow, and there were trucks after trucks, fishtailing and speeding across Hallam. Seems that they have finally found conditions suitable for a oversized urban assault truck.

haha. Yeah right. I couldn't even get started on Sorauren. I ended up riding East on Queen until I caught up with the snowplow around Shaw and then turned back. It was amusing seeing everyone trying to get their cars out of a 3' pile of ice and slush.

After that, I was out front shoveling the walkway and a guy rode by on a Pugsley, Even he was having trouble with the snow (although he was managing to ride Sorauren). He was happy though, apparently he'd been "waiting all year to try this out!"

Clipless did suck today (kept freezing/clogging), but the MTB didn't have pedals on it and that's what I had laying around without pulling some off another bike.

yup...23c and big flats with Sorels. Cut right thru the snow and when I did get a bit squirrelly the foot comes off easy for balance.

Eggbeaters FTW.

I'm amused by the reaction to the snow, I just got back from Cambridge (cancelled my plan to ride there, though :p) - that being said, I've not been out there yet on the bike.

I find it worse when I stop and actually find out how slippy it was. I had a wobble on Sorauren Thursday night, but didn't get phased until I stopped in at home for a quick bite before heading east, stopping and walking up my driveway made me realise how slippy my street was and I chose to walk my bike to Roncesvalles after.

I left my bike at work on Friday as I decided to hop on the bus out of town whilst still suitably tanked up. At least the TTC was free when I got back into town tonight, w00t.

PS, *******s parking too far left in the curb lane on streetcar roads FTL (streetcar home took forever because of having like 1" clearance with some of them).

PPS, also cured my overheating/getting cold problem - it was my backpack. I'm a furnace, so the extra insulation on my back was doing me in - I put my rack and pannier on for Thursday night/Friday and all was just fine again, though the weird weighting on the bike took a moment to get used to again (not used the rack since September).

I also had me some cabin fever yesterday - my girlfriend gave me guitar hero III and a PS2 the night before so it wouldn't have been so bad... but my power was out from about 7am until about 2pm so I went out and got some shoppin' done.

Riding yesterday was pretty fun, except for the hidden tracks, as Keith mentioned.

Yeah, the commute this morning wasn't as bad as I had expected. In fact, I kinda had fun. :) The earlier snowfalls we had this Fall were much wetter/icier, but the roads this morning were just kind of slushy. Not many of those really uneven layers of compacted snow/ice to knock you off balance. I also rode over the 2' high embankment at the N-E corner of Bathurst/College on my way to Manic. I assumed I would fall but I rode it... clipped in at that! :P

I spent almost all of yesterday playing Mass Effect on the 360. Hooray for video games. (Plus a hard trainer workout, just so I didn't feel like a *complete* slob :P)

I also had me some cabin fever yesterday - my girlfriend gave me guitar hero III and a PS2 the night before so it wouldn't have been so bad

<-- waiting for the Guitar Hero on rollers footage on Youtube

Also -- does anyone know what a landlord's responsibilities are with respect to snow removal in our fair city?
