Ah the Christmas spirit, getting up at 4:45am to get in line at Future Shop to make sure that I get in nice and early for the boxing day sale. Worth the pain now that I have a nice new computer. Nice here in Ottawa, not too cold. No bike though which sucks as the roads are all clear.

I too successfully escaped Sarnia - yaaay!

So Keith, my mom told me that there's apparently an ex-Toronto messenger working at The Bicycle Shop on Front Street in Sarnia (Sarnia's only bike shop). Any idea who that might be?
Yeah...I know him. His name is Ken and he used to work at Bikes on Wheels for quite awhile. Nice guy.

Damn it! I disappear from BF for a few weeks and you guys went to do Track 1. Oh well, I would have wanted to bring my Makino...

BTW, long time no BF...
A few weeks?...We sent out a search party like 2 months ago.;)
I would like to try and get down to London on the 5th or 12th of January. Track 1 and 2 for those who need to do it and perhaps have a few of us (Wes and Dan particularly) do the Track evaluation for race night. They are doing a big race evening on the 19th which will have lots o racing including some Madisons. I would really like to get down there that day.

You know I'm in! Don't forget the Angry Johnny's/Cycle Solutions team shindig is on the 11th. Make sure you'll be in shape to get out to the velodrome the following morning. ;)

I'm in Montreal right now. Staying in this too-fancy-for-the-likes-of-me boutique hotel in Old Montreal. Good times! And yes, I'm posting on bike forums. Kim and I are lame. We've already been out for dinner/drinks and are back here watching tv. hehehe. Anyone have any Quebec City tips? Cycling related or not. We're headed there tomorrow.

20 miutes, I wish. I spent over 2 hours waiting to pay for the laptop I got. Only 1 checkout for laptops and there were 50 people ahead of me waiting to pay at 6:20 in the morning. Checkout was so slow it took about 3-4 minutes for each person to pay. Sucked so bad.

Shaper...no Poprad it would seem in my future.. 52 and 55 cm being the spread, no sizing. Now checking out the other manus sizes, I saw one of the first production years Poprad's and I gotta say I love the old decals compared to the newer ones.

Not looking for NOS persay, was just commenting on how I liked the looks of the year one's decals much better. In 52? What size do you ride? Is there a general rule for sizing in CX? Similar to go one size smaller for tarck kinda thing?

Notice the quotation marks. It's nowhere near a conventional 52 ... more like a 56.5.

There is no rule other than try to keep your position the same (as your road bike, which you don't have) but err on the side of slightly more upright (so your back doesn't explode two laps in). It's not a "I'm on my way out the door to go to work" conversation and unfortunately I'm on my way out the door to go to work. ;)

as someone who grew up not celebrating xmas, i can't express how glad i am that it's over with (for another year). i'm sure i seem like the biggest scrooge from november 1st til now, but geez it's so in-your-face. however, with a week of paid vacation this year, i guess i shouldn't complain too much. despite all that, i did acquire an ity-bity sewing machine, which i hope to be able to put to all kinds of crafty good use. especially since it's a cold, rainy day.

Is the frame size you are looking for between 52 and 55 or do you think you can go higher? I ask because there was a Wazoo CX bike listed on Canadian Cyclist classifieds for $650 and it was full Ultegra 9-speed but it was a 57, if memory serves. I thought it was a pretty good deal, the Wazoo is Reynolds 853 and Ultegra is nice, the CC classifieds are down right now but it was still listed as of last week.

waaaay huge... I always seems to end up with 55's and they are generally too long in the top. I always seems to be stretched out. If I'm going to get a new ride, Gorsh Darnit it's gonna fit!!!! I'm fairly sure I'm a decent fit to a 54, but wondering if due to the nature of Cross does one want a smaller frame to be able to toss it around a bit under you? I'm thinking tabletop airs off the berms at the golf course..jk'n

Just planning ahead as to want I should be searching for, and in what general sizing range.

HEY... who had the silkscreening gear?

Shot in the dark: I'm sitting here doing random Google searches on financial assistance post-surgery (basically, I'm looking to see if I can get any money from the government to help cover rent/expenses once the hospital sends me home but I'm still not able to go back to work). Anyone have any ideas on where to search or who to call up? So far I've just hit dead ends.

hey shop guys: does Bell have any tpye of helmet replacement policy like Giro does? I took a tumble last saturday night and hit my head on the ground, didn't think to check the helmet. when i get to work, one of the guys points out a large crack in the back of my helmet, right through the foam. it's actually just one of the "wings" on the back of a bell sweep. should i replace the helmet or what? I just watched American Gangster ... which is actually quite good. Denzel has so much charisma you get drawn in even though he's a *******, Russell Crowe looks so horrible it's funny and for once tolerable ... and if I'm not mistaken, isn't that the RZA as one of the cops?

hey shop guys: does Bell have any tpye of helmet replacement policy like Giro does? I took a tumble last saturday night and hit my head on the ground, didn't think to check the helmet. when i get to work, one of the guys points out a large crack in the back of my helmet, right through the foam. it's actually just one of the "wings" on the back of a bell sweep. should i replace the helmet or what? (the helmet i just bought in october, ugh!).

Size/colour? I can help you out if we have one in stock.

I'd like the record my daily commute from College/University down to Queen ... the rest is pretty boring but that km or so is generally entertaining. What do you plan on using it for mostly (commutes, trails, races, etc.)?
