Yeah, there has been a lot of posting on CL lately geared (lol) towards the fixed/track crowd but all of it has been overpriced junk. Where are all those great deals I used to see? That $300 Gardin track bike that I missed by minutes back in September is the last one I can think of.....

I think it's safe to say, there are no good deals on bike stuff on CL toronto.

Also: I didn't think it was possible, but there's too much red on that Fetish bike. +stem and track drops lulz

Like anything, you just need to keep your eyes peeled. That Brompton T for $1000, although not cheap, is a pretty good deal for the touring version. And then there were the hokey spokes...

Nadir just came back from visiting Ernesto and giving the final O.K. on graphics. I have not yet talked to him but I will go out on a ledge and say they will start shipping 2-3rd week of Feb.

I was supposed to have a surgery. It didn't happen. It was through roof on the "WTF Just Happened?!" scale. If you really want to know what happened, feel free to ask in a less public forum. Otherwise, I'm fine and would rather not dwell on the issue.

So nice! I'd be afraid of getting my elbows shorn off in traffic though, I've always like those bars that bend way back for a townie. Still, it is a very sweet looking bike but why no basket?

shapelike
02-02-08, 10:55 PM
The bars were cut down 1.5" each side after the fitting session with the customer. We originally spec'd the bike with proper townie bars but the customer gets what the customer wants (I would have rocked a front rack on this bike fo'sho).

Ahh now I remember why having a winter beater is good. I just cleaned and tuned up my bikes on thursday and I don't want to have to just redo it again. Also, I need rollers. I may just pony up and get some new ones, Craigslist hasn't been very fruitful.

I was at Dukes the other day and they have some pretty good sale prices on their shoes. All of the Time carbon soled road shoes were on sale and seemed to be in the neighbourhood of $125 or so. Other shoes were on sale too, lots of Specialized ones with carbon soles were in that same neighbourhood.

thanks man. I was at my place bloor/dovercourt area. ****er went inside my building somehow,i had it drying off outside my door in the hallway. It was only out there like 1/2 hour, and it was inside the building, and it's just a big ass house, so there are only like 4 other tennants who live here. Some idiot left the exterior door open and the guy walked right in. Hopefully it will turn up, i really don't want to shell out another 7bills for a new track.
If anyone has any idea's of where they might try to sell it, that would help.

$100 says it was someone visiting one of your neighbors in the building.

College seemed pretty clear, as did most main roads. Bloor & St. George were downright ok to ride on with 23s. Most side streets (Pearl, Duncan, Simcoe) in the core were sketchy-ass business. Enough cars had run over the snow to turn it to hard-pack, but not slush yet. Hard-pack takes you down quick

i tried it about 6:30
there wasnt even enough traffic out to make ruts let alone melt any of it.

i got from ossington, to the mod club before my rear wheel jammed from show building and packing at the bottom bracket.

it took us 4 hours to drive from toronto to london on friday.
after london it was clear sailing, but pretty sketchy for a bit around hamilton.
13 hours from toronto to the hotel.

hot water music was amazing.
i've never seen chuck so happy on stage.
able baker fox were way tighter than expected. especially since they all live in different states.

thanks, i guess the most obvious thing would be the old cinelli bars and stem, there's a stupid sticker of a guy playing air guitar on the seat tube, and another sticker on the top tube of a chick riding a whiskey bottle with the words "man's ruin" over it.

Word. My roomie had his Specialized Sirrus stolen from the garage of his last rooming house. Its either a) an inside job, or b) what Keith said. Its really f'ing sad when people steal anything, let alone what could be someone's only method of transportation.

yeah i was grilling this guy in basement, who always uses the back door to go out and smoke (he always leaves it open a crack so he doesn't have to take his keys) and he seemed less than concerned about whole thing. I'm probably being paranoid, but you how it is when you get your **** nicked.......everyone's a suspect.

It's good for them, paying 1x this years earnings, but I don't know if it's good for the Cannondale brand. I can think of lots of BMX brands that were good back in the day that are now crap because of mass market.

Huffy being an example

oh its definitely bad news for the brand for sure...hahahahahaha

just a good acquisition for dorel...theyre all money grubbing mega-corporation types who care nothing about the brand or the bikes...look for C-dale at your local Zellers/walmart/crappytire! hahahahaha but wasnt Cannondale pretty much heading in this mass produced POS direction anyways?

Yeah those "lefty" shocks will come standard now, though they won't reinforce the left side, they'll just stop putting anything on the right side. :)

Listening to the teleconference this morning was pretty sobering, and the QA period after was even worse. The president & CEO, Schwartz, sounded like he was reading a speech he didn't even write, stumbling over words and mis-pronouncing, "Cannondale." The people invited to the FAQ were strictly investment house types, who were only concerned with the bottom line.

In summary:
-GT & Cannondale will go under the name of Cannondale Sport, operating under Dorel, focused on premiere brands and IBDs.
-Pacific will stay strictly to mass-market.
-It sounded like they were interested in off-shoring manufacturing to China

This is really disappointing, and I hope they keep the brand as-is, but suspect otherwise.

Were they going to keep it as is, I suspect there would a very slim chance they'd buy it in the first place. That's not what money ppl do.

He was pretty young too, only 63 years old. Awful news.

A quick question for you CX guys: I have a Surly hub that is spaced for 130mm, that is pretty standard for a CX frame, right? I think I am going to build it up for a SS/Fixed CX ride and would like to use this hub.

yeah i was grilling this guy in basement, who always uses the back door to go out and smoke (he always leaves it open a crack so he doesn't have to take his keys) and he seemed less than concerned about whole thing. I'm probably being paranoid, but you how it is when you get your **** nicked.......everyone's a suspect.
That fuji was my winter warrior man.......ttc for me for a while, i HATE the bloody ttc

What size bike do you ride?

Cross specific bikes are usually...and should be....130 spaced. There are a bunch that use 135 but these tend to be multi-purpose "cross" bikes rather than racing models.

9 minutes to respond? Slacker.

Seriously tho....real cross racing bikes are not traditionally built to use mountain bike components. A ton of pros use Campy on their cross bikes. Who makes a 135 spaced Campy compatible hub? I don't mean to dump on or suggest that a cross bike with 135 spacing isn't a capable race bike, just that cross is really more about road standards than mountain.

Heres a shot in the dark, but I got a question for any messengers out there.

I want to be messenger, but I got to finish up high school. So I am at school until 12, and I was wondering if there was a company that would hire me to work from 12 onward (till when ever). And I'm willing to ride in any weather, if that makes any difference, which i doubt it will.

Currently I'm getting over a ridiculous injury (fell rock climbing, hurt my wrist), so I should be up and riding a bike in a week or so. So this is just like an initial search... to see if it is possible to get those kind of hours. And if not, I will try again in the summer when I'm done school

The short answer is yes...you can find a job. The downside is that you likely make very little money.
Edit: Messengering is not a great idea for someone coming off a heinous wrist injury.

Cool, thanks.

the wrist is not too bad (minor pulling of a stupid useless muscle), and the major reason I'm going to have to wait a week, is because i broke my crank/chainring (pictures posted somewhere here a while ago) and the new things haven't arrived yet.

and I'm looking for the experience more then the money (i hear messengers typically don't make much the first year, and not making much isnt a problem, as i live at my parents house)

pffft.. yeah, whatEVER! :P

Actually I agree with you on most counts. However you know that I ride a Campy bike with 135 spacing. :) That said I would generally prefer a cx bike with 130 spacing for the choice of road wheelsets/hubs.
