Speaking of the Don, anyone got the word on when the DSR rides there are going to start up? I seem to have settled into a Tuesday/Thursday evening ride routine but it's always nice to share the fun with others.

My last trip to the Don was actually a lot of fun after I stopped feeling like I was going to black out. I realized afterward that it was probably my cycling cap that did me in (hey genius, it's not winter anymore - you can lose the warm stuff). I felt like I was overheating after ... what, maybe 10-15 minutes of riding, but when I took a break (and ditched the cap) I felt much better for the rest of the ride and actually ended up have my best ride "back" along the ridge trail ever. I'm starting to get better with some of the ladder features and other areas where you really do have to hold your line. It's one thing to pick the right line, but having it be a "hold it or you're going to crash" situation is still something I'm getting comfortable with. It's coming along though, so yay.

Wes and I were talking about starting up next Tuesday night if the weather was good. Seeing the trail conditions yesterday and the good light between 6 and 8 makes me think we are good to go.

k so let me see here, my memory indicates that theres sprints wednesday nights (DSR?) but youre reffering to a trail DSR ride? thats two kinds of awesome.

Yep the dirt rides are gonna meet at pottery trailhead around 6-6.15 and then do another pickup at Loblaws trailhead around 6.30. We're planning on a fun ride - no drop policy. All are welcome - MTB, Cross, 29er, etc.

P.S Veloflex black tires ordered - fastest tyres on the face of the planet

Ordered from where? I actually just checked PBK for those last night and they were out of stock.

Ive decided instead of fenders on my raleigh, im going to get another bike with a rack and fenders, and use that on crappy days. Yeah, thats right. Im that excessive.

My gf wishes I thought 2 bikes was excessive (oh, and I'm on MY "rain bike" today).

groceries

Speaking of groceries, has anyone else noticed a higher than average level of sexy at the Bloor/Spadina grocery store? I was in there the other night and ... well, there was a whole lot of love goin' on. Also, the Canada Trust on College east of Ossington - also a very sexy establishment for some reason (both staff and clients).

It wasn't even like ... forgive me, but it wasn't "tittie tops on parade" or anything like that. Remember that scene in High Fidelity when Cusack throws on the Beta Band and then everyone gets a bit love-eyed? It was that sort of vibe. I was picturing hands touching while reaching for the same squash in the produce isle, the check-out line getting a bit cosier than normal, etc. It may have just been several hundred people all in a really good mood because spring is finally here, but something was definitely going on.

Edit: Now my bank, my bank is just entirely staffed by hotties so I'm guessing whoever does the hiring there is a big perv.

riding home down dundas today with the mrs.
chatting about the day having a decent ride.

a lady behind honks, i look over the shoulder and there's an empty middle lane, and nobody behind her so i just keep talking. she procedes to try to pass and give hand mime gestures (points at her eyes and the road) and then stops at the light 100yards ahead. i pull up beside her and say "what were you trying to say?"
"you're lucky i didnt hit you. you cant ride side by side like that."

wtf?

I hate it when people do that.

I'd grumble about a weird run-in with a cabbie the other day but I'd have to explain the whole situation, blah blah... basically he was saying bike lane riders shouldn't pass taxicabs that are stuck in traffic because at any moment the doors could open into the bike lane. I thought cabs were supposed to pull into the bike lane to pick-up/drop-off, and riders have to wait behind or venture into traffic to pass, just like we wait behind buses (or pass). Am I wrong? Obv. if they can't move over due to stopped traffic then there is the risk that passengers open doors into the bike lane. Just like parked cars.

In any case the woman was definitely wrong.

something in the water supply... it was an attempt to make drivers nice, which failed... but the side affects are nice :D

anyway, this summer (if im the country, yea chances to make money in Paris) i plan on finding out, and making, stickers that have text on the sticky side, with phrases like "DUMBASS" or "Have a nice day, moron". then on the other side "PLEASE KEY THIS CAR" or "******* DRIVER RIGHT HERE -->"

i just think it would be awesome to stick it on the window of a dangerous driver (like instead of punching it)

but... i dont think it will ever happen, as i am too lazy

Totally! That'd be awesome, actually.

Speaking of which, I just pulled the data off my bike computer from yesterday's race. Apparently I hit 58km/h on my first lap on this longish open downhill. Yeehaw! How's that for a steel hardtail? :) I also hit 45km/h at the bottom of a really sketchy/twisty singletrack downhill, which I believe this picture sums up:

I was doing my best not to become "uncoupled".. eh, Keith? :P Too bad I was entirely uncoupled and didn't get to enjoy the ride more. ugh! Especially since Mansfield isn't open to regular riding anymore.
