I must be lucky or something because I've never worn a helmet and I've never been hit. I have one but I just cannot be bothered to wear it. I wear a ball-cap because it keeps the sun out of my eyes, I guess the new helmets come with a visor and I should grab one. Any suggestions on a helmet to buy for cheap?
You have just jinxed yourself. Ever say to yourself "I havn't had a flat in ages!" The result is usually a frustrating amount of flats in a ridiculously short period of time. Wear that lid.

A buck and a half each??!! That sounds like a total burn. Before you head out to Mississauga.....call up Mike at Bicycle Specialties. You can prolly get a bag of Campy ones for less than that....and get to visit the shop! BONUS!!

That I will do

Edit: Because I was a ****** and already paid for them. I'm hoping they won't hassle me for asking for a refund.

The package was dated 4/03 and i got it exactly 9 days later. I have another order coming in (cassette this time). We'll see how long it takes.

Oh and uh, it looks like they raised the prices on the rubinos like $3 each.

What can I say, Spring *really* affects my mood. I was riding home from work yesterday and was going through that little section of Queen's Park Circle where Shiz smoked that lady and I suddenly got this really powerful floral smell. I looked and just inside the fence there was a million little blue flowers (forget-me-nots?). Then I glanced up and realized there were leaves on the shrubs/etc along there too. I had an awful day at work yesterday, but I wound up with a big grin on my face all the way home.

nothing worse than a cheap helmet that looks like a big old egg-shaped beer cooler on your head. when i decided that i should be wearing a helmet i went out and bought the most expensive, best-fitting helmet i could find. if you spend a wad of cash and it fits well on it you'll probably wear it more often than a cheapo.

You make it sound blastphemous to drink pints on a patio when it is nice. Is there another type of day that is better for outdoor imbibing? Now if he were to ask "who wants to play Dungeon's and Dragon's after work" than I would be piling on as well. Be that as it may....where did you have in mind Som? Ok, this post is going to be next to worthless but i'm going to type it out anyhow. There are two on the west side of Spadina just north of Dundas (near Moon Bean lattitude wise). One of them is good, one of them sucks (IMHO). The one that is good has a long white counter on the left as soon as you walk in with a lady usually preparing more of them.

If she has a pile of recently made ones go for those, but if it looks like they might be a day old, ask her to make you one (F#(*$ old ones hate them).

Besides the not too cool to wear aspect, the round ugly (retro 1980s style) helmets actually afford the best protection. No snag points, more material and usually more coverage than the sleek aer0 roadie type helmet.

Of course i'd never wear one.

Bicycle Specialties, 7/32 bearings for 6 cents each, not campy but who cares. Time to fly downtown. Somnambulant post a time... !

you've been uninvited. ;)

uh.. I was thinking about 5:30 or 6:00. Enough time for a little spin first. As for where, I'm not sure. Obviously a patio is a priority, but I know everyone else in the city is probably thinking the same thing. The Black Bull obviously has a pretty big one, but if anyone else has a suggestion then I'm open.

Hear hear! My thoughts exactly! I remember saying when the weather first improved that simply the number of ****** fair-weather cyclists I have to deal with wobbling around the road and blowing through red-lights on an average warm day makes me appreciate the cold ones... and that didn't even get to anything about construction, smog days, guys in honda civic's with melon-launcher exhausts, sub-woofers, aggressive drivers, drunks, "heat blast" from trucks/busses, etc. Most of those things still exist in the Winter, but they're not nearly as common.

CV ride organization has been replaced in my mind with "OH sonofa***** I haven't started my paper yet" and "OH sonofa***** I haven't started packing my boxes to move yet". That being said, I am about to head out the door to go for a ride.

42x18? spinny! :)

speaking of CV, I really have zero clue who all was there on the last ride. The only people I remember are the people I already sort knew.. dom/jeremy/rob. next time we need a group picture with notes on flickr. :)
