The dreaded jit has made it onto the tofixd.com forum already, it appears - in full costume, clownshoes and all... *sigh*

I'm hosting a couchsurfer for a bit over the next week so I've not been making it to any events/rides, but will be if not before, then after my Ottawa trip.

Fun ride last night, guys. That first big climb took the piss out of me and that last big drop scared the **** out of me, but it was still lots of fun. I'm Jon, by the way. You know, that guy on the black IRO who spent most of the night trying to catch up to the rest of you... Yeah, hi!

yeah, got to love davenport to st. clair. Nice to meet ya. I had the red hat.

i had the blue helmet, and the lack of air in my lungs... and the light the light that could see the ground through the cedearvale ravine (the guy who led everyone onto the rutted gravel at a way to fast speed :D )

But I wasn't the other guy with the red hat.

A LOT of unique features for an old raleigh, is slightly different now, has a brake, new seat and no tt wrap.

-rattlecanned black with chipping tt and a spot of raleigh burgundy left on the BB by the right chainstay
-long custom-a crankset, brushed alu on black
-red/black striped michelin tires
-centre mounted tektro cross lever attached to a brushed weinmann caliper with jagwire pads
-black/red straps on a pair of battered original quill pedals
-bars wrapped in black cork, with actual wine corks in the bar ends
-WTB seat with white stitching
-competizione 3ttt black chrome bars

Please PM me if you see her, or someone riding her, or come by her in some shop.. thanks mates.

I did.

Rode the trails from Spadina and Queens Quay to Humber Bay twice, practised some trackstandz and skidz here and there along the way, then came home, did a grocery run to St. Lawrence, back home, another grocery run to Kensington Market, home, all before 6:30 or so, THEN did the group ride at 9.

I slept damn fine last night.

Also I now have two big tanned spots on the tops of my hands and a bunch of tiny spots in a waffle formation from the holes in my gloves. 1337.

Ripped off bikes: Place on Spadina south of College on the east side (forget the name), and Igors place on Queen West opposite Trinity Bellwoods (just a hair east of Shaw on the south side) as far as I know that's aboot it - good luck, that sucks :( I thought I saw this bike last night on Gerrard, I can't say for sure - I was going west, the guy on this was heading east - circa 6/6:15pm. The red tyres made me notice/look over but I can't remember any details about anything (guy had glasses and dark hair, that's all I recall).

Glove tan, you say?

Aw, FlimFlam beat me to it. The place on Spadina is called Uncle Jacob's. Who was it that mentioned he's offering a framebuilding course or something? Super weird.

It's almost not surprising. Get people enthused about bikes. Get them to spend oodles of time and money on them. Help them fall in love with bicycles all over again.... and then rip them the **** off.

Bring your u-negotiator to Igor's. I have liberated my ride from there once years ago, and found Igor most agreeable when given a shorter list of options ... none of which involved his option of me paying to get it back.
a: You can give me my bike back
b: I can call the cops and you can give me my bike back
c: I can thump you about the head and shoulders with this lock, and you will give me my bike back.

I have been assigned member status, so later for all you lot. as if.

"With the victim’s mangled bike sitting in a southbound lane and the heavily damaged red car sitting idle in a northbound lane, police will now turn their attention as to why someone would be on one of Toronto’s busiest highways on a bicycle. "

I'm glad he's ok, but geez it makes us all look bad.

all they had for track stuff was a jamis sputnik complete for $1300 or so
and a felt tk2 frameset that the guy said was "over $1000" but he didnt have an actual price.

Freecycle, how did they cut the lock? What type of lock was it? My eyes are peeled...

It was a cable lock with a fat heavy masterlock on it. Im guessing the big-boy bolt cutters took it, or they dremelled the ****er. Either way, I was grinding in an elevator in the lobby for fifteen minutes, looked up and wham, no bike outside anymore. Prolly a dude with a van, cuz I booked it out the door and saw nothing. Plus, average crackhead cant ride fixed, must have been someone who knows whats up.

BTW:

DUPS, NOOO!!! I hope you took the ****ers door right off =). Glad to hear your in one piece though man, got paid today, wanna hit up a few beers sometime soon?
