when i first read about those thefts they said it wasn't uncommon for people to be leaving the parking lot with a missing DOOR

anybody know where the best place to get a bike fit is in Toronto? I recently found out I have tendinitis in my right knee and my physiotherapist strongly suggested I get my bike fit. I've heard La Bicicletta does a good job. Anywhere else?
If you're willing to pay for a bike fit, I had a really great experience with http://www.hellovelo.ca/.
the thing is i really like the guys who work the floor, there all really helpful, i only have issues with there tech abilities... I dunno im pretty anal when it comes to working on my bike (they look like ****, but the run smooooth), so i have really yet to find a store i am comfortable with letting them fix it... and the stripped bolts really doesnt help.
I can only say "I told you so" to so many people who keep giving Dukes their money.
Stolen stuff alert...
My friend Lyndsey had her wheels ripped off the other night...
Cripes.. I'm definitely going back to the Turdbanite for regular use! I'm afraid to leave anything else locked up anywhere if it's going to be out of my sight at all!
Also, for a second there I thought I saw that your friend had their Lynsky ripped off.. http://www.lynskeyperformance.com/a/
, I wish I could think of something similar to mark my Brooks.
You might be able to use a soldering iron to burn some information under the edge of the saddle or use a dremel to etch some information on the brace at the rear. Use a marker to fill it in though so it's not so obvious somebody may try to obliterate it.

i'm confused.
PS. if you don't want to spend this much in one shot, ask Igor about his leasing plan. He would likely let you lease this trike (with a refundable deposit of $250) for about $50 per year. Maintenance included.
so, you can either pay $250 in one payment, or put $250 down and pay per year?
Of course, Silly Billy. You pay him $250 now and then $50 a year for five years.
Mind you, you won't have the bike for that long. He'll sell you a lock with one key (Of course it comes that way!) and your bike will be ripped off the first time you lock it up.
...There are thousands of them which means they were not initially registered in Canada. Are these cars all stolen? Hack-jobs?
Flooded write-offs from hurricane Katrina.
In other news, my track frame's repaint is complete! I'll have it back together for pics tomorrow night.:)

Flooded write-offs from hurricane Katrina.
Yeah, I'd heard of this as well. I read a great article a few months ago about a transport ship full of Mazdas that sank off the coast of Japan. Mazda brought them up and tried to sell them in the U.S. but their regulatory body caught on and Mazda was forced to scrap them all. However, the article was suspicious of this and suggested that perhaps some new Mazdas are actually re-refurrbished ones from the boat wreck.

I always get a laugh out of people panhandling me while I'm track-standing. Kinda busy right now, lady.

Remember that that police officer that got a shot a few months ago was investigating a ring of airbag thieves. A ring of airbag thieves killed a cop. There is big money in this sort of thing; my understanding is that they are all transported down to the U.S. but that may be incorrect.
Another interesting thing to me is the amount of U.S. registered cars that are re-sold up here. Take a minute and watch traffic one afternoon and count the number of cars without day-time running lights. There are thousands of them which means they were not initially registered in Canada. Are these cars all stolen? Hack-jobs? I can't think of a shadier business than selling used cars, *shudder*.
That sucks about your Brooks JW, any identifying marks on it? I put my name on a piece of paper and tape it to the inside of the BB on all my bikes, I wish I could think of something similar to mark my Brooks.
They do a fancy engraved Brooks saddle. I would think you/someone could easily engrave your name in some nice script on there. It would really stand out if it was a coloured one especially.

Never been hassled by the guys who panhandle at Bloor/Sherbourne or Bloor/Parliament (most common place I see them, anyway) - perhaps they just know better from experience.
Went into the back-side of a cab coming west across Carlton, low speed over the bars/to the side spill. Long story short, I screwed up for not paying adequate attention.

The stovetop espresso kind (Bialetti)? Just make sure the rubber grommet is in good shape, the two halves are screwed together tightly and bring it to a boil at a lower setting on the stove. I'm assuming you mean the thing is leaking from the middle.. or do you mean spewing from the top? If it's the latter, is there a lid?

The low temps are key, because if you boil at a high temp, the coffee will taste burned and contain grinds.

As per kergins and wes's comments, drop the temperature. You can also take the mocha pot off the stove once it starts sputtering, as there should be a substantial amount of coffee in the reservoir by then. You don't need to run it dry.
I expect you're going to see the Vatican museum (if you already haven't). Get there early (like 7-8 oclock) so you're at the front of the line. Get snacks for the kids. The bus tours go in first, but if you wait you're doomed. The line up gets huge. Once inside, go straight to the Sistine chapel which is what gets the busiest. Then go back and do the rest. You're not supposed to do this, but its the best way to get to the Chapel before it's insanely busy. Get a dictaphone. While many of the statuary are "Roman copies of the Greek Original" there are some interesting tidbits about the rest.
re: Igor. It's about time. For anyone who has posted about a bike getting ripped, get in contact with the 14th division to see if your bike is on his premises.
I imagine they'll be going through his inventory rather thoroughly for some time to come, in order to hit him with as many charges as possible.
I had been having trouble with my Park lockring tool wanting to cam out of engagement and do damage to the hard to get, proprietary Mavic lockring. I ordered a set of Hozan lockring pliers on Monday and picked them up this morning. Man, do they work well! Highly recommended, but pricey ($60).

I wonder if Igor has been arrested before? If the allegations in the article can be proven in the courts, he will be going away for awhile I would think.
The most surprising thing to me about that article is that he only paid 85K for that building. It shows how much Queen West has changed.

I remember always being a little 'scared' of Igor's shop, everytime I'd ride by the place gave me the creps. I was driving back home from the Cadillac Lounge one night around 3 and saw a truck with at least 100 bikes in the back right outside the store. I wasn't sure if they were coming or going, but I figured it wasn't a normal business deal at that time of the night

What's unfortunate is the team is out, so the Cobra is out. He was riding well for a 24 year old.

Perhaps you should speak to the officers working the case. It could very well be that Igor has connections and dealings in other cities that may be overlooked without a bit of help. I suspect the theft rate in the city may drop substantially in the coming weeks, at least until the slack is picked up by associates not currently under police scrutiny.

I saw Igor leave a junk dealer up in the north end of the city with a truck full of bikes, so maybe not all of his inventory is stolen. If you know how to fix up a bike, some of those old clunky Canadian Tire bikes that are given to scrap-metal yards can be pretty profitable and they are not stolen.

i would be shocked if it droped ... most bike theft is fueled by drugs, those guys don't care, they want drugs, if they can steal a bike and sell it for $30 or $50 it's a risk they are willing to take
it's cool that they are targeting people who resell those stolen bikes, but i'm sure they'll always be able to find a buyer
The fact that the fuzz were at *that* particular street corner bodes well for Igor getting more than a wrist slap. However, I expect that's what he'll get, unfortunately.
the news about igor made my day. im hoping he gets hit a little harder than the slap on the wrist. i imagine that building possesses quite a few treasures that have been reported stolen.

i love the misfit. And the guy who kept riding and ignored me and my buddy, when we asked for a pump (which was on your BAG) i hope you hit a low branch at full speed. if i see you again, i'll give you my pump, in your spokes. My riding partner had to walk out because we had a broken pump, and a bunch of people just rode by(only one guy had a pump though). nothing like the love from fellow riders.

I rode by Igor's and there was a bike cop out front so I stopped to ask him what was to be done if I suspected my stolen bike was in there. He said that the best course of action is to wait and, if I hadn't already done so, report the bike stolen. He wasn't sure if the contents would be seized but he was inclined to think that they would be. That could be pie in the sky but, if you have a serial number, you might get your bike back.

Any team in my eyes that has a doped rider should be out. And the Cobra IS Ricco. Good for 24 when doped to the eye lids...
Together again at last!
Can't wait to go for a ride when I sober up tomorrow. I'll have to recheck every bolt and the chain tension first.
