Hey TOBFers, if you aren't doing anything May5th in the evening time, drop into the Jet Fuel and check out our show. We've hooked up with a few local and out of town artists on a lil collaboration. All fun stuff though, and there will be drinks and coffee (of course) and a raffle and the artists will be there (Taliah is still a "maybe" right now, but maybe!, the works she's hanging with us are here and beautiful) Just 6 examples on the sneak preview thing, but there will be 14 bags and works by the other artists total 6-7. Lotsa fun people and good times.

Perhaps, but it's still decent quality free coffee. I'm also an espresso ***** and they're the only chain coffee place that can (on average) pull a proper cup I find.

I agree that Charbucks coffee is quality free.

are we certain the swap starts at 9? :)

edit: also, does anyone here listen to Isis? Anyone going to the show this Thursday? Anyone want to go?

edit #2: Does anyone want to go see "METAL: A Headbanger's Journey" tomorrow at The Royal (College St, in Little Italy)? I think I'm definitely going to check it out. It's playing at 2:00 and 7:00. Here (http://www.festivalcinemas.com/festivalIndex.php?com=showReview&mID=6642) is their page, here (http://www.metalhistory.com/) is the official site, and here (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/metal_a_headbangers_journey/) is the Rotten Tomatoes entry.

Very cool.. and yeah, the plum tree and the bonsai ones are both (coincidentally) very nice.

The gf's new tattoo:

- Japanese red maple branches across her back (think old Japanese watercolour print styles) w/ song birds sitting on them.
- Maple leaves blowing off the branches and going down her back, wrapping across her ribs and down her stomach.

Hellooo, awesomeness.

Perhaps, but it's still decent quality free coffee. I'm also an espresso ***** and they're the only chain coffee place that can (on average) pull a proper cup I find. Given the choice between a chain and an indie shop that does espresso, the choice will always be the indie (unless I've had a bad shot there :P). I haven't found anywhere else within a couple blocks of my house that is consistent.

Also, yes, before the swap. I'm fairly certain it's going to be rainy though, but that's not going to stop me. I feel the need to stretch my legs. I'm not even *that* interested in the swap, I just want to get out on the bike for a bit.

yeah i hate myself for it but one of the few espressos i enjoy is from starbucks. i guess that's the thing with evil corporations is that their quality control is top notch so one pull of espresso in timbucktoo is the same as one in toronto. i've searched long and hard for a bean that i like that is ****bucks but the only one that comes close is alternative grounds on roncesvalles. i'd me down for meeting for espresso and doing some laps before the swap. operator suggested 8:30? how about moonbeam at 8:30? if you get this in time that is... i'm a little drunk and i'm heading to bed so here's hoping that i make it there in time.

PS. I've wanted to get the illustrations from Gray's Anatomy (http://www.bartleby.com/107/) done as sleeves for a few years now. When the day finally comes that I find myself rolling in cash money, hopefully it'll happen.

Hey guys, I'm in town but no go on coffee in the morning. I'm gonna be down at the swap for 9 to line up cause I loves those deals... and apparently my dad was down for the MEC swap last year and he was there an hour before and still didn't make it in till the 3rd group...

Hopefully the rain keeps some people away though... if it clears up later in the day or this week, I'd love to go for a ride though!

Hmm

Ok heres some possible solutions, assuming the lever mounting bit is not cracked. Sounds like the threads are stripped.

Just use a nut and bolt, wont look so hot but will secure the lever.

Another option is go with the next size up bolt but imperial not metric. Its usually a touch larger, and will probably tap itself. I would lube or grease it though. You will have to use an imperial allen key.

Stripping it could be caused by a few things, bolt not long enough, lack of lube on bolt. I remember A cinelli ALTER stem I owned came with bolts to short, and it was starting to strip I solved it by using bolts that went all the way through to the other side. Made it very secure.

dang! that stinks. i've done the same to mine when i overtightened them. one was toast, the other i was able to salvage with a bolt one size bigger and copious amount of blue locktite. once it's on the bar, it's there to stay though.

allright, it's 11am and raining and i might just head down to the swap. maybe see some of you blokes there.

Who is the woman with the Benotto conversion? She and I talked briefly about my ride and hers.

Was anyone buying anything? I saw a few people buying the bikes, had I known that I would re-inherit my Miele SS the other day I would have made plans to sell it down there. I think the prices were a bit high but I guess that didn't bother too many people as stuff was selling, it seemed.

Jet, how much would you want for your Miele and what size is it? Just curious. I wonder who ended up with that nice orange frame... if I was 4 inches taller I'd have way more frames to choose from. Damn shortness. Nice seeing all you folks.

Also: Operator, I've been in the same place as you several times and never introduced myself, which is lame. So. Hello, it's nice to meet you. My name is Dominique. *nods*

Yep, I was about to hand it to cavit8 to put on the table, when some lady said she needed a helmet. It fit her head perfectly, so I told her it was hers and she was so happy she hugged me. Good times.

Regarding the sale...

I got there, no line up. ****ing very confusing, useless staff. I had spied a gianni Motti. Priced at $250. To me that was really the one the deals of the day. A confused guy was mulling it over he told me he was thinking about I said well if you dont take I will, he looked like he would give a good home so that was fine.

I did get one treasure out of there, a steel frame xt, judy equipped thin blue line w clipless. Which I paid an undisclosed price for.

Paying for it turned out to be a real treat, now get this everyone as you all noticed the bikes were all locked.
And I was informed that no one bothered to label the keys, which all identical. Luckily the key that unlocked my bike was seperate from the pile.

Things I liked about the sale :
1) getting to test the bike
2) paying cash no tax and getting a reciept

Things I didnt like completely disorganized and lousy merchandising as well as a cramped display area.
Confusing tags. Lack of sales help.
Cheeky comment from fat guy with beard to me about some unrelated bike week matter.
Having to wait forever to pay. Them wanting to take down the info on the bike which they should have done before hand
Lack of concern that I didnt have time to be delayed etc..

Im sure they sold stuff, but let me tell you. Im going to post this on TBN, if they ask me extremely nicely and fat boy apologizes for comment. Id run the swap for them.

I have no idea what the line up down to parking garage was for.. clothing???
Im sure they are all patting them selves on the back for a great sale, meanwhile as a customer I was
unimpressed.

Im surprised I wasnt noticed by any of you folk, its funny how I can travel around unnoticed.

Highlight of sale: seeing someone get a deal on a bike that will actually use it, its been a while since I have seen someone really appreciatte a bike and I could see that by the way he looked it over. I mean not like the way some vintage freak does, but more like someone who has just discovered the workmanship of something or the fine lines of a painting.

First spy photo of the possible zombie road bike. Which wil probably retail at $399 or less. It will have a aero brake levers and dual pivot brakes or cantilevers, not the brakes you see in the picture.

Feedback is welcome...
