Its collapsibly delicious!

/grump = g'rump, australian colloquial expression meaning "good rump", the context is bathroom chatter.

At the peak of your ability, flailing arms and yelling "Fire". In a zig-zag.

Unless you swing for that team, in which case having your g'rump rooted and pilliaged may appeal to you, in which case run.

Mmm mm yea. Off to get my new frame and wheels tomorrow. Ebay crank arrives soon, and all I need now is a sus corrected fork and everything will once again be okay in the universe. Will put me at 4+1 bikes, +1 being the mtb in the process of being built.

PS: I plan on going north for a couple days for a "see old friends/ride my bike on some hiking trails" kinda trip, and the train company says "no bikes" due to their "no checked luggage" rules. looks like the rules are there to stop bikes from getting damaged. so does anyone know how much abuse a bike box can take? I really want to ride my bike on some of the ATV trails that are up there, but also want my bike to survive the trip.

anyone wanna lend me a bike box *evil laugh* (no im joking 2 i got at work i can steal)

Whoa... that's messed up. Helluva check the cop did :(

Our CM last Friday saw the police presence at a surprising 0, compared with the 50+ that were there last month. I was expecting at least a lasting and diminishing presence rather than there/not there.

I smell a new Meter Maid! You gotta wonder how many cops are:
1. Actually bullies in their personal lives
2. Turn into bullies because of the role

rob: cranks had bolts in the box. bike still sounds like a machine gun - but now with more bling! In other news: Miche track chains are loud as can be.

I didn't hear about a deadline but yeah, I guess that will be changed. Have the cops said anything about what will be done with the bikes? I am assuming it will be an auction but maybe some of the kids' bikes (of which I saw a lot) could be donated to youth centres, etc.

krusty

One of the newspaper articles a few days ago (sorry, I read it in print at work and can't remember which paper) indicated that they will all be sold at police auction, which is interesting, as it presumes they are ALL stolen, without proof that they are. I'm not defending Igor here, but it would seem that due process has not been followed. The article also mentioned that the police keep the proceeds from any auctions. They don't hand the money to the city.

jet sanchEz
07-29-08, 10:33 AM
Yeah, that does sound like a violation of something or other, oh yeah, the Charter of Rights and Freedom. Maybe Igor will sue the cops and come out richer, there is no way that all those bikes can be proved to be stolen.

I read something in the Sun (yesterday I think) that mentioned the bikes might become property of the court, whatever that would mean.

When I've been cranking on my bars, I'm noticing a creaking as I haul-butt on both sides - could I have tightened my stem clamp too much? They're Nitto bullhorns from IRO. Not sure what else could cause the creak, should I use a rubber shim around the stem/bar contact point? It's in there without right now. The sound just concerns me.

cavit8

I'm no lawyer either but I think they'd have to wait until he was convicted. Given that nearly 10% of the bikes that were found have been returned, a case could likely be made that the balance of bikes would be dealt with under forfeiture of offence related property. http://www.canlii.org/ca/sta/c-46/sec490.1.html

Igor could appeal that, but he'd have to be found guilty first in any case. The nearly 4 kg of weed is probably a bigger worry for him.

Flimflam
07-29-08, 11:08 AM
The crack will put him away for a while, too. The bikes are a nice side effect, but I think the drug convictions will be the main things to send him away.

I don't like the idea that they're trying to hurry these bikes away/wherever, at the same time though I'm kinda interested in checking them all out when (if?) they do go for auction.

mebbe not tight enough if its creaking. sure its the stem-area creaking and not your bb, headset, etc?

try to disassemble, check for any surfaces worn shiny on bar and stem, sand lightly with medium grit if there are, clean thoroughly, and then tightly reassemble. has worked for creaking ive had in the past. I wouldnt do rubber shim, just personally, that for me is like asking for it to give or shift at high loads.

property being returned to the victims of theft prior to a trial frequently happens. as long as everything is documented for presentation in court it is all on the up + up.

Interesting you find this on your bike. I think that each combination of gears may be optimized by a slightly different setup. I have a Campy front ring, and an EAI cog. My chainline is as good as I can get it without changing my BB to a Phil. It's about 1.5mm off. I put an Izumi V chain on and it makes the most horrible sounding racket I've ever heard on a bike. It's lubricated, and there are no tight links, but it pops occasionally (loudly) and generally sounds industrial. I put my Miche chain on, which has seen almost no miles, and it is quieter than my Campy Record drivetrain on either of my road bikes. Almost totally silent, even when I have it on a workstand at eye level.
