I want bullhorns on my fixie. I want to mimic the brakehood position without running 2 levers. I rarely ride in the drops, so I don't think I'd miss them too much. I have a pair of chop and flop bullhorns on my town fixie that I like a lot, but I don't go long distances on that bike. I'm hoping to get some longer rides in this summer and even do a century on the fixie, so I'm wondering how comfortable bullhorns are on long distances. To those of you who have gone long distances (4-6 hours with few breaks) on bullhorns how did you like it? Was it comfortable? Did you miss the drops? What kind of bullhorns do you run and how do you like them?

I made a similar post in the road cycling forum. I apologize for the double post, but this forum seems to have more experience with bullhorns and the road forum seems to have more experience with long rides. I'm just trying to get as much feedback as I can. Thanks in advance for the info.

i have ridden more than one century on my home made bullhorns. and plenty of long distance riding without any gear aside from water and there has only been one time that i wanted to be lower than what i was and it was on a long straight away and i just put my elbows ont he bars and rode like that for about two miles...i dont recommend that without wrapped bars tho...sweat makes the metal quite slippery as i found out the hard way...but other than that one time i have been very happy without drops on long rides

If you're going really far, you could get some clipons (they are designed for bullhorns after all). I'm thinking of getting a set for when I'm riding in europe this summer. Comfy and aero! When you aren't doing long rides you can disconnect them to get that cool factor back.

Bullhorns all the way. MS 150 Ride on bullhorns (on my fixie) all day rides on the bullhorns...they are great and comfortable.... go for it and have fun.

The shape of the bullhorn is just personal preference and fit really.
