Greetings,

Today Donna and I drove up to Atlanta. While she visited with her mother I spend the day attending the Jeff Galloway running school. The primary topic for the school was running injury free. I had a great time and picked up several hints and tips I'll be using. Our class was quite small, 5 other people besides me which lead to lots of personal attention from Jeff. We went outside and he watched each of us run and provided us a checklist of things we're doing right and areas where we can improve. For example I have a tendency to lean too far forward so he showed me how to correct my posture, etc. We talked extensively about injuries and how to prevent them from happening and just as important what to do if you get injured. He sighted several cases where folks have set PRs using the run/walk method of training on long runs and I will be using this for certain on all of my long runs in the future. If you ever get a chance to attend one of his schools I'd highly recommend it. I'm seriously considering plunking down $249 for 6 months of e-coaching. I just gotta figure out how to convince Donna that I need it first :)

I like Jeff a ton - but I believe (for the experienced runner) there are better methods (talking about the run/walk). Don't get me wrong, I think Jeff and his methods do more to get "people off the sofa" and out there running than anyone else.

ps. I will e-coach you for free (hope we can hook up when you come out to CO).

Boy, you don't know what you're signing up for here, MHR :). We'll hook up for sure.
