General Cycling Discussion - A recent Friday evening bicycle ride on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Chicago's Lake Shore Drive is usually an annoying expressway along the Lake Shore, but it recently made a good bike route....

Uhmmmmm...shouldn't that guy be wearing a helmet?
Someone told me about that event, but sadly, I was going to be in Italy, so I couldn't participate. Looked like a lot of fun. I'm assuming you went.
Do you know if they plan to do it again this summer?

Well, if you're going to be around in Chicago on Sunday, June 9th, Chicagoland Bicycle Federation will be having its official "Bike the Drive" event, where the entire stretch of Lake Shore Drive will be closed to motorists.
The above picture was not from an official event, but just an evening where about 400 cyclists took over Lake Shore Drive for a couple of miles.

I could never ride like that guy. I get this uncomfortable idea that the saddle would end up going places a saddle shouldn't.

Looks like a bummer to me!:D
Since the sun appears to be going down he won't have to worry about sunscreen. :D

I want his saddle. It's gotta be comfortable.

I was going to participate in the bike the drive event, but I had just gotten my bike 2 days prior, and proceeded to take 20+ mile rides each day. I haven't been on a bike since my last one was stolen 2 years ago. Needless to say, I was a little too sore to ride. :(
They wouldn't have a saddle big enough for my butt! :D What sort of hell bike is that guy riding next to him????
