Hello all,

I'm a 23 year old Computer Science graduate student at the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY.

I ride a Klein Stage Comp R with about half Ultegra and half 105 components.

How I ride really a function of the season. When the weather is cold and classes are in session, I use the bike mostly for short commutes between home and school. I replace the Ultegra clipless pedals with what I guess are called "regular" pedals...so that I can ride with street shoes (or snow boots, if necessary).

When the air is warmer, I do more sport riding. Just out side the boundaries of the Rochester urban sprawl, the country opens up and turns very agricultural. Traffic is light, the roads are wide, and the farm sceanery is quite beautiful. I take short rides of between 50 and 70 miles between one and three times a week, with the mean being about two times a week in the summer. I usually average around 17 mph.

I read recently on some website that there is nothing better than riding a good bike on a good road. I agree. And I think it's mostly about the efficiency. An efficient bike can make your legs feel incrediably powerful, and can make you feel like you can roll forever. Those are great feelings. Another way to put it is to say that a healthy person on a good bike represents a wonderful combination of engineering and athletics.

So far this forum looks like a great resource! Thanks to those who welcomed me to the community and I look forward to being an active member.
