The 520 version of 24" wheel is a 'road' wheel. Tire sizes for it are designated by fractions of an inch, rather than decimal. There are about 4 or 5 tires that will fit - not much choice, huh? The only one I can find at the moment is the Panaracer Technova 24x1 1/8 . I think IRC also makes one. Two links to the Panaracer:

A cozy talk with someone at a bike shop might turn up other possibilities. Be very sure that you don't have the 507 version of 24" wheels. Juvenile bikes use this size, and there are lots of low-pressure road tires and MTB tires available for it. The two versions of 24" are not compatible.

My local Performance ordered in some nice street tread 24" tires for my daughter's mini-mountain bike. Check the shops and ask.

Any shop that deals with QBP can get you rims or a wheelset or tire for that matter. It's really not a problem. I deal with handcycle and competition wheelchairs that use tires/wheels that are 520's. Terry used 520mm wheels on her mixed wheel bikes for short woman. If all else fails I can get you a rim or tires for that matter. But any decient LBS could too.

The tire is not marked with its ETRTO numbers, but I think that the Odyssey Red Racer is a generous 520-28.

I assume that the Terry Tellus (listed as 520-32) is a bit fatter, but I never used or even seen one. At $40/piece, I doubt I ever will buy one ..

By the way, the Red Racer, which is 90 lb. tire with a mild knobby tread that's OK for street use, comes in basic black, and sells in the $12 to 18 range.

Let the call be heard: The world needs fatter, slicker ETRTO 520 tires !

It is a good selection, .... by 520 standards ! In the 520 size, they have the two Panaracers (25 and 28, both with minimal tread), the Red Rider (29 light knobby), the Terry Tellus (32 almost slick) and the Specialized Spanky (32 light knobby). I think that this represents the full range of 520 tires that is readily available in the US in 2005. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the link: Calhoun Cycles looks like a good operation. By the way, you left the "l" out of the link: http://www.calhouncycle.com/

24 inch stuff is a lotta fun, ETRTO 507, 520 and 540 are all common. I wish there were more good road tires in 540.
