Title says it all. It was probably my fault because I locked it to something that was easily cut w/o bolt cutters. Anyways, the bike is a blue Lotus (road bike frame) with green tires and a red saddle and red + blue handlebar tape. I don't know what to expect anyone to do if they see it. If I see it what am I supposed to do? I know all the parts on the bike like the back of my hand but why would a police officer let me take it from someone who would claim it was theirs? I'm keeping an eye on craigslist, is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks. :(

Here's a pic. Mind you this is w/o the green tires and red saddle I later installed and thereis a light where the lock holder is now but you get the idea. The frame is big, by the way. It's like 60 cm so it's hard to miss. It got yanked on 87th and lex. I left it on the corner (where there's a lot of foot traffic) though it WAS the middle of the freakin' day.

lets hope the theive is dumb enough to sell on craigslist and we'll all go over to "check out" the bike and then let natural selection do the rest. But really, i'm sure we'll all keep an eye out.

Well I lock it up in the same place every day except today another bike was on my usual streetpost so I decided to lock it up to the newspaper dispensers right next to it. I locked it up to this chain connecting two dispensers and when I came back the chain had been cut from one of the dispensers and they just had to slide my U-lock out.
bad move.. I will keep alook out for it. Go to St Marks place and Thompkins Sq park or Washington Sq Park.

dang...sorry to hear that. thats right in my neighborhood too. do you know the serial number of your bike? if so, i'm sure you could be easily justified in tackling any fool you see riding around on it.
I can see the headlines now "Biker Gang" roughs up local theif
that has been done before. We were in Washington sq park and we spotted a guy riding a stolen track bike. about 15 bikers chased him down by Cooper Union and the beat down proceeded. That was when we all hanged out at the park ..The good days!! My boy ran that boy off the road.
