Check out this review from the July issue of Bicycling magazine.

They rate it four stars (why not five?) for Nokon brake and derailure housings.

Let's see, $55.00 for shifter housings times two is $110.00 plus two brake housings at $50.00 each is $210. Oh, don't forget 7% sales tax... comes to $224.70. "Would you like some brake cables to go inside those housings, sir?"

You are saving four grams of weight over standard cable housings which proves that 'less IS more'.

Of course, Bicycling magazine reassures us that "Greater braking power and crisper shifts justify the increased cost"...

Am I out of touch, or does that seem like a lot of jing for cable housings?

I don't think it's you that's out of touch Mike, but someone is.

Don't trust Bicycling, that rag is a worthless read! It takes me longer to go through a catalogue from Excel.

The Law of Diminishing Returns is alive and quite well.

yes, if your not a hardcore rider you can fall for that kind of advertisment, and throwing $210.00, for, break and shifter cable and housing for that amount, is totally insane, unless the brake and shifter cable can think for themselves then maybe, I say maybe its worth its price:D :D

I would suspect those prices are per pair and not individualy. That makes them slightly more expensive than RideOn's, which are very good cables made by Gore Tex.

How much more braking power do ya need? I can lock up the front wheel or go over the h-bars with pretty much any standard brakes and cables. Shifting is perfectly fine, too.

P.T. Barnum was right, but with the increased population, the numbers have changed. It's more like "there's a sucker born every second."
