I have some seven speed indexed Campy shifters that I'd like to use on my MTB. What are my options as far as derailers? Do I have to use Campy, or do these shifters pull the right amount of cable for another brand? I hope I'm making sense. I'm a retro-grouch and I have very little experience with indexed systems or mountain bikes.

Dirtdrop, I have never used Campy MTB shifters BUT I did use a early 90s Campag Centaur MTB derailler with Shimano 8s shifters, and it worked pretty well (acceptably).

Logic dictates that the inverse (Campag shifters and Shimano derailler) should work similarly.

Make sure you use a 7 speed cassette, with close to Campag spacing. Sheldon Brown should have details on 7s Campag spacing vs 7s other spacing for your reference.

Maybe I'll sell the Euclid suff on eBay and buy parts that I know will work together. I'd like for it to shift better than acceptably and the Euclid group is some of the ugliest stuff Campy ever made, IMO. Thanks for the advice, though.
