I have been looking for a new road bike. As my name shows I like Giant bikes but cant seem to find a bike in their line up that I like. I am looking for a touring bike which as far as I know leaves Giant out. I have looked into the cyclocross bikes because of the ability to tour and do some light off road. The Bianchi Axis is the front runner as of this time. I have looked into Jamis. I have seen the Ventura and the Aurora and even at the Quest which is more of a road bike. The Bianchi Volpe and the San Remo are also possibilities. As you can see all of these bikes are in the $600 to $1300 range. Thats about the range I would like to stay in. The biggest problem I have is I cant test ride any of the Bianchi Bikes. Our Bianchi dealer is also a Cannondale dealer that only stocks two small frame Bianchi bikes. I would love to hear from anyone out there that has owned or knows about these bikes or any others in this price range. PS...A little secret for the Giant bike people out there. In 2003 Giant is going to be selling a Cyclocross bike here in the USA. It is to be out near the end of this year. I would love to see the bike but there arent any pictures out and I dont think I want to wait until the end of the year. Thanks for any feedback.

Which frame fits you best? Do not buy a Bianchi without a test ride; although I (obviously) like the marque, their top tubes tend to be a bit longish, which is not right for everyone.

Do not buy a Bianchi without a test ride;

I hate to buy any bike without a test ride. I just dont know what it is but those Bianchi bikes have caught my eye. That Axis is a nice bike as well as the Volpe. Thank you for the reply and I will keep that in mind.

Hi Giant. I'm also partial to Giant, (NRS2), but recently bought a Bianchi Axis. It's been great so far. Rides great. The only fault I've found so far is the Koski Revolver pedals. Haven't messed with them much but they were really tight even after adjusting with my Shimano cleats. Haven't tried the cleats that came with them yet but they look the same.
It's got an Easton Ultralite frame and carbon forks. Really rides smooth compared to my old road bike. Haven't ridden it a lot yet but so far it's been great. Rode it in a new road construction area night before last. Some fairly large rocks and rough road but it took it really well. Really sweet on the road too.
If you have any questions let me know.

(And I bought it without a test ride.):)
No regrets whatsoever.
