Well, got my bike back from the LBS, they totally gave me a new set of brakes. So the squeak is still there. Will the squeak go away if I keep using the brakes? I hope this will work. Please help. The brakes are broken in and they are Disc Brakes. Its like when I stop it is a low yet loud squeak.

hopefully. if it doesn't go away in two weeks, take it back to your lbs, and have them look at it

You didn't tell us the brand... That has alot to do with their performance...

The discs. Some squeal some don't. Brands help (hayes generally squeal less than hopes for example)...but in the end

suck it up...discs squeal...rotors bend etc....etc....

Piss me off too, but once you get to 8in and beyond the bending gets easier...either live with it or go to 6's which bend a lot less :D

The new hope rotors have less squeal because of the ~.5 mm play they have side to side. They were disigned that way, according to my bud at the LBS.

Rubbing alcohol/boil the rotor. They may be contaiminated from you touching your discs.

DENATURED ALCOHOL NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL!

Denatured alcohol is ethanol with added adulterants that make it useless for consumption but still useful for industrial processes. There are diverse industrial uses for ethanol, and therefore literally hundreds of recipes for denaturing ethanol. Typical additives are methanol, isopropanol, methyl ethyl ketone, denatonium benzoate, and even aviation gasoline.

In this sense of the word, denatured means "a specific property of ethanol, its usefulness as a beverage, is removed". The ethanol molecule is not denatured in the sense that its chemical structure is altered.
Also most of the Isopropyl Alcohol on the market sold as "Rubbing Alcohol" is a 70-20 mix of Isopropyl Alcohol and water
Denatured is a MUCH more effective cleaner.

i never had a problem with isopropyl alcohol for cleaning any brake surface. Doesnt Hayes recommend isopropyl?

They do, but Denatured is a MUCH better cleaner and your mom won't get POed that you're wasting first aid kit supplies. You're confusing isopropyl alcohol with rubbing alcohol which is normally sold as 70% isopropyl and 30% water. Personally I don't like paying for something that's watered down like that especially when denatured works so much better
