Does anyone get tired of bull-poop?

When I was little, I played a game. When watching tv, I would say things like, "Oh, that was so fake!" or, "That's impossible." It made the insults they hurled at my intelligence easier to bear. :)

So, what about this tasty morsel? CAR ADS. I'm sure there's a lot to nail in these oceans of crap, :) but how about this:

Did you ever see a car ad about the newest hunk of steel stuck in gridlock, inching along at 3 mph on the "freeway," or sitting at a green light, unable to move because the traffic is halted for a mile or so?

NO! What you see is,

"ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM! Zoom-zoom-zoom-zoom, zoom...yea, yea, yea, yea..."

Or zooming through the most awsome countryside at uninhibited speed, with no apparent destination and no holdups.

Or some choreographed, motorized ballet at high-speed.

Have you ever driven the interstate for 8 or so hours between chains of major cities and found that construction and traffic congestion never seems to stop?

Tell the truth! :)

Driving in heavy traffic is one of the least pleasant activities I encounter. I am thankful to have good bike routes, good running shoes, and an excellent commuter rail line. To me, a car is a big, expensive appliance. My bicycles, not my cars, reflect my personality and identity.

All I can say is that it's pretty bad here in NYC (rush hour??? don't think about driving)

I'm sure there are roads somewhere out there are pothole free and traffic free....we just have to drive to "nowhere land" to find them.

But anyway, I have nothing against cars :eek: I actually love automobiles. I can talk all day about them.

I think I born to be a mechanic. I love to learn about how things work. But somehow after I got into accounting *yawn* Maybe it's time for a career change (I'm only 24 BTW).

Anyway, enough of this BS.

Most of the time, I find that a bike enthusiast isn't an automobile enthusiast and vice versa.

But I like both...actually I just got into biking a month ago and love it. I've been a car lover since I was 8.

Actually, I have driven from Lafayette, IN to Chicago, IL to Des Moines, IA in one non-stop trip (besides fuel and changing drivers) and did not have any traffic and minimal construction! The secret is to start the drive at 9pm on a October night. By leaving at 9pm, you miss all the rush hour traffic. When you hit the quad cities area, it's almost midnight! By making the trip in October, most road construction is finished for the season.

Same here. There are things I love about cars, motorcycles, bicycles, etc. Some (not all) are genuine works of art.

The good car/motorcycle roads are out there ... you just need to know where to look.

I'm neither a car lover or a car hater, but I do like some car ads. Some are actually pretty funny -- esp. the ones that make fun of the sometimes irrational enthusiasm people have for their vehicles. And yes, I guess I like them because they are a lot closer to reality than the fantasy ads where people get to drive like there's no-one else on the road.

My favourite "car ad"? I only saw it once, and it featured all the usual shots -- fantasy shots of an SUV taking tight turns and swerves, dust cloud at the back, heat shimmer in front as it swerves toward the camera and comes into focus, shot of exhilarated passengers laughing in the luxuriously appointed interior, intensely focussed announcer giving a point by point breakdown of the features as the car is taken through its paces. The catch: as you see the car swerve into full frontal view, you notice that its front grille has buck teeth and it looks suspiciously like a bunny. The luxuriously appointed interior looks like a Barbie motorhome, with colours and decor to match. As the camera pans over the passengers, who are giggling as they loll about on the carpeting, the announcer extols the virtues of the vehicle -- which was, he tells us, "designed entirely by 9-year old girls!"

Obviously not a car ad. I think it was for the Family Channel. Only saw it once. Definitely a keeper, tho.

The good thing about B.S. is that it's such great fodder for humour.
