New job today, still feeling my way around, but I commited this morning on my 1963 Flying Scot Continental.

I took my other bike to bits at the weekend and transferred a lot of the parts over, but the 27 x 1" tyres are a bit hard!

Don't like the indexed gears and the Shimano changers are nowhere near as nice feeling as my campag ones. Still it gets the biike out and obout.

Still feeling your way around the new job, or a new commute route?

I remember when I moved across town and had to redesign my bike route. At the time, I was not a very seasoned bicycle commuter, but full of heart. :) The introduction to high-speed arteries was daunting, to say the least. I think now if I had to find a new route, I'd have an easier time of it, now that I've been exposed to most of my original fears.

Then of course, if the job changes, so do parking considerations and bathroom procedures, as well as "conditioning" the other employees to the bicycle commuting lifestyle. There again, now that I'm a bit more seasoned, it wouldn't take too long to adjust, I don't think.

Hope you're enjoying your new work!

Cool, are you going to post a picture of your rebuilt jalopy* for us? (Or have you already?)

*We need a bike-specific word for this......don't know if we can come up with one as good as 'jalopy', though. :D

I will when I get time to take the pictures. Having had it as a fairly stripped down audax bike, I must admit it looks better with a rack etc.

Unfortunately the Scottish summer weather means after two days of commuting it is covered in mud!!
