Mountain Biking - Good online bike shop?

I have looked all over the internet and I cant find a place where they sell SPec.,giant,gary fisher,and more than 3 or 4 brands all on one site
do you guys know any sites that can help me out?? i am looking to buy a bike not parts?

Those companies you mentioned do not permit internet sales.

You can buy a boutiqueish frame and get it built with parts, but you can't buy a complete 'big box' brand.

Yes. Most reputable companies expressly forbid the sale of their bikes on the interweb.

You don't HAVE to. There are several other brands that do sell online or you can buy used on Ebay.

Yea you can check ebay, they probably have something. Im not sure why but many of these companies like you mentioned dont allow online sales in the box like that. Im sure therse a reason, im not a marketing expert. Ask Raiyn. BUt you might as well go to your shop, get the right size and all + warranty

The reason that they don't allow Internet sales is to protect the established bike shops. Internet shops have no overhead, few (if any) employees and stick you with the assembly of the bike, all things that make warranty service (which especially to Specialized is a BIG plus for them) a real PITA there's a reason why shops are "Authorized dealers" it's because the are the face of the company to the public. If you get crappy Internet service you're not going to blame the "shop" (bot that it would do you ANY good) you'll blame the manufacturer. Some companies (like Kona) have their own web purchase program, but I SERIOUSLY caution a newbie from buying online. Chances are you won't know enough about fit to make a good descicion on what's best for you. Go to a shop and try each of the bikes on your list then pick. The way the bike feels is just as important (if not more so) as what's on it

Kona also doesn't let any online shops sell them, but you can buy Konas from kona's home site.

That makes sense. Thanks. I would agree to buy the assembled bike from a shop for a newb. Your not overly familiar iwth sizing at that point and chances are, guys at the LBS are :)
