Hi all,

I'm considering replacing my Headshok Ultra Fatty DL fork on my 2003 Cannondale F600 with another fork. Aside from the headset adapter issues, are there any other issues I need to consider. I love the handling of this bike and I don't want it too change (well, minimize it as much as possible) so I want to know how changing this fork will effect my bike's geometry. I read somewhere that because of it being a headshok fork, I need to look at a fork of at least 100mm travel because of the length issues between the Headshok fork and a "normal" suspension fork. If anyone has any other advice/experience, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like you have been advised correctly a 100mm fork would match the ride hight of the headshock very close and not mess the geometry up too much you might try a fork with adjustable travel between 90 and 130 mm then you can tweak geo and travel to suit the new rockshocks would be good fork dont run over 130 mm and that is pushing it

You're spot on as far as the fork, and you've got 2 choices for the headset issue. Either get the Cane Creek XC Short for the Headsok, (available for $80 on ebay) or there's also a guy on ebay selling the adapters that let you keep your current headset, and use a 1-1/8" fork. It's about the same price, but you won't need to mess with removal/installation. Don't bother with the Problem Solvers, as they may be cheap, but then you need a new headset, and the stack height ends up being too much. I'm waiting for the Postie to bring my Cane Creek, so I'll let you know how that goes.
