Woo! so wait a sec, you telling me that something like 4 pedal strokes is a wheelie? If it is then WOO HOO!!! I can do a wheelie :D But alot of the time, while trying to start off the wheelie, I'll get started crooked for some reason. I cant figure out why I start off like that then have to hit the rear breaks to avoid crashing :(
Are you supposed to lift the bike with your arms, or just pedal your way into a wheelie?

That should help... It's about manuals, but wheeleis aren't much different.

Now keep practicing! Lean back alot and learn how to use the rear brake to prevent you from falling back. Try to learn how to turn in a wheelie too.

Wow i did my first wheelie today too.
I kept it up for more than 3-4 pedal strokes though, I was going slightly down hill, so that might be why

I did about 16 strokes on my old mongoose back last summer it was my biggest.

Pedal strokes depend on your gearing :P
On my bmx, 5 or 6 strokes equals going like 100 feet, but if I'm in a lower gear on my mtb, 5 or 6 is only like 30 or 40.

If you are in too low of a gear, you spin out and cant go far.

Yeah, that's where manual skills come into play. It'd look funny to see someone wheelie-ing and spinning at 100 rpm, lol
