Samurai Fiction | Hiroyuki Nakano

this bomb^^ should've been on that list as well

Two films now, I'm done with this guy (Nakano). Beautiful photography, but cheesy story and lame humor, poor acting, etc.

Not interested in watching anymore Seijun Suzuki either, why is everyone afraid to say he's simply a horrible director?

Branded to Kill and Pistol Opera are two of the worst films I've ever seen.

Seijun Suzuki: I think I have 2 of his titles in my queue, but don't recall ever seeing any of his films before, although I know that he has a following. Just not into the yakuza/violence genre I guess. I grew up watching Jidai Geki and Chambara and so am very picky about what I watch and what I like. There is some excellent contemporary stuff coming out now and again, but lots of junk as well.

I watched CHUSHINGURA (Inagaki) earlier in the week and MILLENIUM MAMBO (Hsiao-hsien Hou) last night. Seeing Setsuko Hara in CHUSHINGURA makes me want to watch EARLY SUMMER again. She was so young and vivacious in her early career. This was my 2nd viewing of MILLENIUM MAMBO. I need to watch more of Hsiao-hsien Hou's work.

On another note, I just ordered TWENTY-FOUR EYES (Keisuke Kino****a) and found out that for some reason Amazon UK no longer carries MOC's THE IDIOT (Kurosawa). Need to spend more time at the DVD forums...

Its been over 10 years since I last saw TWENTY-FOUR EYES. I may have to buy an extra copy.

I just watched, Goblet of Fire. They cut the heck out of the book, removed several subplots, and even changed some parts for no apparant reason.

Yup, that one. Haven't read the book, so I really enjoyed it. The age issue does pop up in one's mind, but kind of recedes to the background as the story goes on.

Yeah....they pretty much raped the book and then burned its house down. The most crucial part they left out too was Harry's Godfather (sirius) who plays a HUGE roll in the next movie.....but the aren't filming with the actor (danny osmond)......so I doubt I'll watch the rest of the series. The first three were great movies, the book sare still good, but I just have a feeling they jacked this last movie up so bad it could ruin the rest of them

Kind of how I felt with MASTER AND COMMANDER, having read the entire series a bunch of times. Still thoroughly enjoyed it, though.
