Hot Fuzz - Funny. Silly funny.

Curse of the Golden Flower - Awesome. Worth it just to watch the visuals. If you have 1080p and an HD or BlueRay player get it! Even on my 50" 1080i HD plasma it was awsome. This movie is from the same guy who did Hero and House of Flying Daggers. The story is more character driven than action, like the other two i mentioned.

The Departed...the accents are harder for me to listen to than even a Brooklyn, New Yawk one. Great stuff otherwise especially Mark Wahlberg's part.

The Bourne Ultimatum...I liked the first two Bourne movies better. Jason Bourne aka David Webb has just become too implausibly superhuman in this third outing.

I don't know where Dicaprio is from, but it ain't Southie. He didn't pull off the accent well, at all. Damon did much better, but then he would be expected to.

Futurama-Benders Big Score
The Simpsons Movie

Both good, but the Futurama movie was a better movie of the show than the The Simpsons Movie was. Albert Brooks part could probably have been played by anyone. He was better in the TV episode where he hires Homer as a clueless henchman and tries to take over the world. The effect was like trying to have Kelsey Gramar voice a different character other than Sideshow Bob. I know Brooks has done other The Simpsons characters, but to me he is Hank Scorpio

Watching them both back to back, you can clearly see that Matt Groenig clearly favors Futurama over the Simpsons (I've read this in the past). The writing for Futurama is much better than The Simpons.

Very funny movie. I never missed an episode when the show was on Comedy Central.

^Stephen Colbert at his best!^

I watched this -- easily one of my most favorite documentaries:

I love watching that movie. It helps get my gf into the horror side of the coin. I showed her this movie, explained that all horror films can be viewed like this, because they are that outrageous...

now I get to watch some of my favorite flicks without her cringing and screaming hahaa...good times.

Rescue Dawn

I enjoyed it. I saw Little Dieter Needs To Fly a couple months ago and waited patiently for this to come out on DVD. I enjoyed it but then my enthusiasm was tempered after a visit to a website done by family of the survivors of the esacpe pretty much debunking Werner Herzogs movie as fiction.

Is that the original, or the extended version with the darker ending and jazzy soundtrack?

I just watched The Passion of Joan of Arc, first with the soundtrack then with the commentary, the latter of which is quite good by the way.

Wow. I'm reviving a thread I killed.

Moving on....

Now that the days are getting shorter it's time to catch up on my movie watching.

Here's the last couple of movies I watched:

American Gangster - Pretty darn good story and some great acting from Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Although, sometimes when watching a movie like this I find myself with a real moral dilmena when I start to sympathise with the antagonist. Especailly one that kills people.

(I would have kept the money)

In Bruges - A really good sleeper of a film. A great story that is long on clever dialog than it is on action and shootem up. A movie that is funny, sad and serious all rolled in to one. Collin Farrell was quite good in this, as it allowed him to expand his range and play something other than a cocksure douchbag. Brendan Gleeson stole this movie anyway even if he wasnt the marquee star here. Ralph Fiennes was pretty damn good too.
