OT - some guy on another forum complained that his GBP10,000.00+++ bike couldn't be insured by the national cycling body because it was too expensive.

If you're still looking, my new Jamis came with Ritchey 700c OCR disc wheels. I'm impressed so far because I go down city curbs with no trouble. At 6'4''/210, that's seems pretty good to me, so I guess I didn't really need to ride MTBs all these years.

You should be able to find a decent selection at any good bike shop. The new interest in 29" wheeled mountain bikes means suppliers such as Trek stock 700c disc specific wheels. Quality Bicycle Products, a wholesaler for bikeshops, stocks 700c disc wheelsets which the shop should be able to order for you no problem.

A good bicycle shop should be able to build you the wheel you are after. If you choose to build the wheel up from scratch, you can pick either a road rim like a Mavic Open Pro, a Salsa Delgato X (cylcocross rim) or Bontrager Disc Specific asymetrical rim to build on whatever disc hub you'd like, such as Shimano, Surly, Hugi, Chris King, etc...

Yesterday, I identified the first problem with the Ritchey Pro disc wheels, although it won't be an issue for many people.

I bought a set of Kryptonite anti-theft skewers which are very convenient on my mtb, since they save the hassle of carrying and stringing a cable through the wheels. Unfortunately, the Ritchey hubs may not accomodate the Kryponite skewers. I've just sent an email to Ritchey to confirm -- I hope I'm wrong.
