Mountain Biking - Difference between XT dual control sti shifters and xt mega shifter pods?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Looking at my pricepoint flier, Im wondering what makes the huge price difference between the xt dual control sti shifter pods for disk brakes $284 and xt mega 9 shifter pods $89 whats the gap all about. Thinking about upgrading my deore shifters with cannondale levers on my f600, what would I need between the two?
Dual-Control Levers are basically like the Shimano roadbike brifters in that the shift lever and the brake is the same unit. Actually it goes even further than the roadbike brifters because the roadbike brifters have a seperate release lever. With Dual-Control it's all one lever. Flip it up and down to shift and pull it back to brake. The price difference is due to the fact that you're paying for an entire integrated unit with DCL and that includes brake levers. If you only need new shifters then I would suggest just getting the shifter pods. Although personally I don't like DCL and would get the pods (and mate it with some other brake levers) regardless.
