So what forum do I bombard with my shameless promo spam now? Or do I just spam all the forums?
Hot deals is on temporary lock-down:

There is a For Sale forum, but it's limited to folks with upgraded memberships (contributors).
PM Joe if you have something you'd like to promote.
Woh, when did yuou become a mod? or have I been spaced out the whole time?
You've been spaced out. Wake up!

wow wow I just took a look at the market place section of the forum. You guys really want more red stars dont you?
No. We want people with red stars to be able to sell their stuff. And we know how to contact them should something go wrong.

You mean the opposite. People without red stars to be unable to sell their stuff...? Hence creating another 'benefit' of membership?
I've seen sites that have gone fully paid memberships only in this manner, please tell me this isn't going to be happening to BF.

BFN will never be paid only. Selling items directly to other members on the forums will now be a benefit for upgraded memberships, or however you want to twist that around.

well i think thats fair. I upgraded without that incentive. But i mean If you lurk often around here, its worth the 25 i think.
Heck, you can learn as much or more than you will by reading barnetts for a fraction of the fee :D

Joe, I noticed that the announcement in the For Sale section says that only paid members will be allowed to post. Does that mean that free members won't be able to respond to a sale item? I realize we could just PM the seller, but there are some uptight members here who have them turned off for whatever reason. (I should mention that I have no problem with only paid members being allowed to sell.)

Only paid members can start a new thread, anyone can reply. :)

I think Joe's idea was to discourage spammers. Requiring a contribution should suffice to do that. Good idea Joe.

I second that. The hot deals forum filled a really good niche: links to good deals from third parties. I hope the hot deals forum gets brought back!! Obviously the mods can enforce the rule that no one tries to sell their own stuff in there.

I too miss the "hot deals" section. This is a forum: the goal is unlimited sharing of information. Along with the good information comes some amount of useless stuff. I'll filter through trolls, inflated egos and spam all the same because with it comes insight and coupon codes.
Bring back "hot deals!"

Ditto. Now I have to go find my last Nashbar catalogue for that code ...

I miss them too, I check back many times a day to see if it has been reactivated. Now it is totally gone.

Is there a law against posting codes in another part of the forum?

There are definitely MANY other sites that post coupon codes, they have the same ones as appear here: edealinfo Nashbar codes (http://www.edealinfo.com/Coupons/nashbar.shtml), edealinfo Performance codes (http://www.edealinfo.com/Coupons/performancebike.shtml).
Joe, as for other "Hot Deals", I agree that there was not a lot. But occasionally there was something good like a deal on a 10 pack of inner tubes, or cheap protein bars, or a discounted wheelset or something like that.
I think it would be nice to bring back "Hot Deals" with less noise! Perhaps there could be a sticky in Hot Deals with a link to the coupon code sites, so that they didn't get reposted ad nauseam? And maybe stricter guidelines about what can be posted and replied to?

Digging my new stuff from Nashbar, including the new coupon code. I wish a had a place I could share.

Did you look at the codes for Performance Bike on that site? All of them expired 4 months ago or longer. I have been unable to find a site that lists updated codes.
And yes, I miss hot deals since I no longer have an easy place to find these coupon codes.
Please bring it back in some form or another :D
edit: I see we now Joe will now post some of the codes under affiliate links. Some codes will probably go unreported, but this is better than nothing. Thanks Joe.

Actually, the coupon codes were one of the things that convinced me to become a member. I figured that this site was helping me "save" so much money that I had to give a little back.
How about a "Coupon Code" thread? If spam becomes a problem, only let members post in it.
