Touring - Touring in Ireland featured in Buycycling...WOW!

I must say I was shocked as I opened the last issue of my trial subscription to Buycycling to find a tour report in there...and about a tour in Ireland. WOW :eek: I quickly glanced through the story looking for the plug for the usual $10,000 carbon bike or the something to make me be like Lance but I couldn't find it...WOW again. Has Buycycling finally changed their crooked ways or will the advertisers reel them in again?....we can only hope :)

My local Borders book shopsruns out of Cycling Plus (the british cycling mag) every month but never Bicycling!
You know your bicycling magazine sucks when people would rather pay twice the cover price to read a magazine about bicycling in another country.
I love the featured tours that Cycling Plus has every month. Makes me want to hop on the next plane and tour the UK the rest of my days

Having toured in Britain several times, I'm with you. Also You might find this interesting. Sort of the UK equivalent of of Adventure Cycling. They have a good magazine and run tours all over the world for members. Of course, you don't have to be a Brit to join. I'm a member.

That little sad crumb Bicycling threw us about touring in Ireland was tired. The problem is, it's not an article, as much as it is pictures with captions. I swear, half the time, that magazine acts like people who pick up the magazine either have short attention spans or don't know how to read.

I picked up the Cycling Plus. Their tours are awesome, and they really go all out with writing REAL articles and including great pictures with explanations.

I could never do a tour based on the info in Bicycling, but I could do a tour featured in Cycling Plus. It just goes to show the lower quality writing in Bicycling as compared to other cycling magazines.

I just think Bicycling is focusing too much on too many subjects. Everything usually comes out a mediocre mess, and I haven't been impressed with that magazine in years.

I paid $2.99 for my subscription to Bicycling. It's great for a quick morning read on the throne, but doesn't hold my attention for much more than that.

The article on touring in Ireland was timely though... I've been talking to my wife about doing a tour in Ireland or Italy, and reading that article bumped her enthusiasm for it up a couple of notches.
