I absolutely love those LUNA bars by the women of Clif Bar. I love every flavor they make. However, I have a complex when I buy them. See they are made for women and I'm a guy. So is it wrong of me? Has anyone else tried them and get hooked like me? I love the orange flavored ones the best.

I haven't tried the Luna bars -- heck, I would have a complex buying them, but for a different reason. Food products that are specifically marketed toward women tend to turn me off -- and I'm a woman! I've seen oatmeal, nutrition bars, and breakfast cereal 'developed for women.' What's up with that? I won't buy those products out of principal. I think it's all just a big marketing ploy. Is it just me?

Sorry about that... rant over.

I prefer the Harvest-bars by Powerbar and some of the Tigers Milk bars. The regular Nature Valley granola bars are good, too. Peanut butter is my favorite flavor all around.

In a previous life I ran a rifle range for the Boy Scouts. We always had a box of maxi-pads on hand. They are recommended for the treatment of gunshot wounds. Fortunately we never had to use them. Unfortunately, it was embarrassing to buy them.

You like Luna Bars? Buy them and eat them. The "made for a woman" thing is mostly hype anyway. If you're embarrassed to buy them, just make a point of saying to the cashier "My girlfriend loves these things."

Geez, some of you guys are so insecure! Maybe the clerk would just think you're buying it for your girlfriend. I buy razor blades at the drugstore for my boyfriend, I doubt anyone thinks I use them. Incidentally, he also eats those luna bars because he says they really taste good, so we share them.

I haven't particularly noticed this with food, but I work in a library, and one of my major peeves is books with titles like "Camping for Girls" and "Fishing for Girls." As if they do it differently than boys do! As if every boy has a dad who can teach him to hunt, fish and camp!

I realize that in the past, reading material of this type has been slanted toward boys, but these days publishers make an effort to include multi-gender and multi-racial people in their pictures, so I certainly see no need for this sort of segregation.

As for Luna bars, I tried a chocolate-covered one once, I believe, and thought it tasted like plastic. Maybe I'll look for the orange flavor...

A couple of weeks ago I rode to my sister's house for a family picnic. My wife drove the kids and brought me a change of clothes. When I arrived I promptly showered, but discovered I left my anti-persperant home. I opened the medicine cabinet and used Sis' Secret. After all, strong enough for a man. . . Unfortunately, no one noticed how pretty I smelled, or how sensitive I was.

I say eat the Luna bars with visions of Allison Dunlop and Marla Strebb dancing in your head.

DON"T EAT LUNA BARS, ya girlie boy!

What'ryathinkin?

Luna bars are the quiche of the sports world; not fer fellers.

Join the real men for Powerbars, raw meat, and maybe some dried beaver castors.

Doesn't help. I've had to buy them for my wife before (not Luna bars, the other thing), and I'm pretty sure they knew they weren't for me.

Orange is my favorite, too. And... I've got the same worries that you do. (I'm a guy, too.) :)

Well, Dave, your going to have to give up the quiche. Oh, and don't tell the other fellers you've been eating it either. This will have to be our secret. I don't want you gettin' kicked out of the He-Man club or anything.

Maybe an exception can be made... if the quiche has spinach in it.

Huh? Nah, the only manly way to eat spinach is right out of the can. Preferably the can is opened with a thick spined knife so the opening has sharp jagged edges.

Use the knife to eat the spinach right out of the can.

If it takes you more than three big gulps to eat the whole can, then yer a tenderfoot.

Thanks for letting me know it's ok to try Luna bars. I just had a 'smores flavor. Much better than a Balance bar.
I've gotten tired of the PowerBars and Balance Bar Plus and Balance Bar Gold. It's nice to have something else to try. ;)

I guess since I ride on a Terry saddle (Ti Fly) I can eat a "woman's" energy bar.

I'll let you know if my testosterone levels drop. :D
