Can anyone recommend some inexpensive but good quality caliper brakes

Dia-Compe 883 Nippons. Good luck finding a pair, though.

No - Get a 990 adapter plate you will be much (MUCH!) happier.

Nippons are nice - heck I still have a set or two, one is chrome, but really, they don't compare to some 990s, not even close.

I loved the 883s back in the late 80s. I had them on my Haro Master, and I could dial them in quite well.

Still the U brakes can totally out-clamp the 883s, but if you like calipers, with a little tweaking they can be awesome.

my bike only has mounts for calipers so i'm gonna have to stick with calipers

diacomp bulldogs you can probably find one on any old dynro that is around some where or on ebay my guess is no more than 9 bucks.... i might actually have one in my shed i could give you

It is actually going on an old mountain bike bmx brakes are the only ones with enough reach to work. Its for both the front and rear and i'm trying to keep the cost to a minimum because i'm pretty much broke and am gonna have to buy to brake sets.

What ever happenned to the old ACS Boa brakes? Those were easily the best calipers I have ever used.

no idea.

I have a set with an overized bolt. good stuff, but not as good as 990's

I dont have disk tabs so that wont work
