Everybody by now knows that Brooks went out of business. I think there is a company in Holland that still makes leather sadles and was woundering if anybody knew their name and if they have a webb site etc.?

The rumors of Brooks demise may be exagerated. Check out http://forums.bsn.com/HyperNews/get/forums/VeloTech.html?hotlist under Greed, Panic, and Brooks Saddles. In a message dated Nov. 22, Charlie Persons, of Persons-Majestic Company says:
"Brooks Saddles will be at normal inventory levels at all
North American retailers by mid-January. There may be a
few models in tight supply until March.
Thank-you for your patience and continued support."

I assume Persons-Majestic is taking over the saddle making operation, and there is no indication of the quality or price of the saddles when they come available.

The announcement by Mr. Persons got my curiosity up, so I scouted some of the other sites that broke the Brooks story early. Harris cyclery claims that Brooks was bought out "from within" and production has resumed.

I realize this doesn't really answer your question about a Dutch company, or their web-site...

Again, rumors fly over the internet from unreliable sources. Nothing is certain and I personally doubt that the Brooks style seats will go out anytime soon. Sure they may not be in abunance in the USA but there are other countries in this world. Many companies quit selling in the US maket for various reasons but that doesn't mean that they are out of business.

I wish people would stop passing rumors on the internet. I gat many here claiming things that they have no idea on and try to make me look stupid when there may not be any truth to the comments.

I wouldn't argue that there is an abundance of unsubstantiated information out there, but the demise and return of Brooks appears to be more than rumor.
Check out:

and if you still aren't convinced, you can look at:
http://www.bikebiz.co.uk/infozone/sturmey_list.php3
and get the poop on the whole sordid affair.

But all that aside, the bottom line is that quality leather saddles by Brooks will remain available And the price isn't changing significantly! (Now that last statement is definitely an unsubstantiated rumor.)

By the way, the company mentioned in my first reply, Persons-Majestic, is the US distributor for Brooks.

The thread is over five years old. I am not surprised the link is now dead.

WOW, that's news to me. I just bought a new B-17 Special with those beautiful big copper rivets. Is this like Schwinn which keeps going out of business only to be resurected every so often? LOL. Rumors are so silly. You really need to check things out first before you commit to saying them in public as fact.
