Mountain Biking - How to tell when its bent

Hello, i had a small endo happen, and the bike land on grass so it wasnt that hard but it twisted the cable's around and thats about it. It landed on the fork so i would imagine that this could not hurt the bike. Its also the first crash on this ride [ 2004 ORYX SPIT FIRE 33 ]
Also i didnt check to see if i could turn the bars around from left to right with out stressing the cable's. After the small bail i checked and they can go as far as they can from left to right without stressing them. I mean they cant spin all the way around. I thought the fork where it connects to the stem might be bent but i am guessing that if somthing was wrong you would know for sure. Yeah its kind of stupid but i just like my new bike too much, i spent most of the day screwing with the shocks and the fork rebound.

That thing you are concerned about is a solid steel (typically) 1 1/8th inch tube that is pretty thick. It is engineered to take abuse of that kind. My fork is still solid and I am 220 pounds doing nose wheelies and riding like there is no tomorrow.

I think he's saying you would have to try hard if you wanted to bend it. So an average wreck won't break your bike. The people who make the bikes know they are going to be wrecked and try to make it take as much abuse as possible.

all i am saying is like, would you always be able to tell if somthing is bent. I am fukin stupid so i need to ask. IF you crash and you cant see that anythings bent then the BIKE is ok right.

Can you bend a fork? Also what about the thing that connects the fork to the frame, no the handlebar stem? it has a bearing in it right?

its called eyeballs. You can just inspect you bike. usally bikes are pretty tough and they dont break. Like that time you said you bike fell of the wall the biggest thign that would happen to is a scratch. If you doing 50 foot double and you case it, theres a pretty good chance youll bend you fork and a pretty good chance you will see it. The handlebar stem probably wont bend those are reallt sturdy. If youre really doing jumps i doubt this would happen but you would bend you handlebars before you bend you stem. And trust me if you bend your stem or your handlebars,you will know it just feels weird
