Mountain Biking - Good Freeride bike

For my next bike in the future im look at the Specialized bighit. If anyone has had some experince with it,i have a few questions

1. Is it durable?

2. Is it worth the money?

3. Are those flame things on the side from the pic on thier website removable?

1 - yes, probably one of the most reputable bikes on the market for durability. Numer sold vs number of satisfied customers is huge
2 - yes, its also cheaper than ever since the demo replaced it

They are cheap and have an excellent linkage. The Manitou Stance fork it comes with has been problematic though. The first batch of seals were bad. My friend just got his and the seal on the left leg wasnt all the way pressed in. Oil was all over it and the seal just wouldnt stay in place. He is going to send it out to manitou and put his JR T on it. Manitou sucks.

does anybody know the price of the marzocchi shivers because if i replaced the fork i would get that.

I was going to respond. But I think you are talking about the single pivot bighit for 888$?...Thats quite a bit different than my bighit comp fsr.

The name of it is BigHit FSR yah pricey at 1800$ retail but im making an investament in all my bikes (when i was 11 and bought my stuff it cost me 700$ bucks and that set me back a few for sure) Probably my 14th birth day ill pay some and the parents will pay some

BTW 1800 isn't pricey at all for the bike you get. You are buying what was 2 years ago one of the top 2 freeride bikes on the market. Only downfall to it was the 24" rear wheel...

I think it looks no-brand without, and better with them on. Guess its personal opinion.

I actually ended up sending mine to klein way back in the day. I hate decals though.

Yes, the only fsr freeride biek made by specialized that has 26" rear is a demo, but the price jumps considerably.

Is there a way to put on a 26 inch wheel or am i just stuck with the 24? (which i probably wont mind anyways)

Yes, there are mods, but they cost money...personally I don't mind the 24" rear wheel. Its stronger, accelerates a bit faster and I don't have issues getting over obstacles.
