i dont really live in a big biking place and i was wondering where was there to ride in washington and what type of terrain is it?

In the Seattle area, Tiger Mtn. (http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?alpha=545) is always a favourite. You can also try St. Edwards State Park (http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?id=1011) and Big Finn Hill (http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?id=1010) (they butt up against one-another) for something closer to the city. My local trail (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=98318) is Section 36/The Beav (http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?id=1031). I also like to hit Tolt-Macdonald State Park (http://www.singletracks.com/php/trail.php?id=1013) because it's pretty close too. If you love climbing, try Kachess Ridge (http://www.trails.com/explore/tcatalog_trail.asp?TrailID=BGW046-015&AreaID={BA36BE10-A5DA-4C7D-991D-3293D65B89ED**) and if you REALLY love climbing, try Mt. Muller Loop (http://www.trails.com/explore/tcatalog_trail.asp?TrailID=BGW054-033&AreaID={4C1915FF-FAAD-11D3-9BCB-00104BC9463C**) which is out on the Olympic Penninsula off Hwy 101 west of Port Angeles.

Ditto on Green Moutain. Go to Barnes and Nobles and go through the sports sections and travel sections and you should be able to pick up some great trail books. I've still got mine from old hardtail/toeclips/big styrofoam helmet days. Can't remember the auther but he makes following the trail great with the descriptions. Kissing the trail is another good book.

I have two pretty good books. One is, as mentioned,
Kissing the Trail: Greater Seattle Mountain Bike Adventures (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1881583066/qid=1113392142/sr=5-2/ref=cm_lm_asin/104-9117510-9397516?v=glance&s=books) by John Zilly which is part of a series of mountain bike guides. It's a bit dated though but still an excellent resource. It's very well organised. Also check out the other books in the series. The other book I have is from the Mountain Bike! series of books and is called Mountain Bike! Washington (America By Mountain Bike Series.) (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0897322800/ref=pd_sim_b_3/104-9117510-9397516?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance) by Alan Bennett. The organisation and amount of information isn't as good as in the Zilly books but is fairly comprehensive. There are several other good books about Washington in this series including a couple more written by Zilly.
