Make sure that you aren't dehydrated, because it is hard to rehydrate yourself the day of the event. Before a race or long event I eat 60-70 % complex carbohydrates, 20-30 % protein, and around 10-20 % fat. The main focus though is eating complex carbs to store the necessary glycogen in your muscles and liver that you will need to complete the event.

Some good complex carbs that I usually use in my diet are pasta and rice. Any whole grain food is also a good source of complex carbs. Make sure that you cook your pasta firm though to slow digestion. Yes, nuts do have fat, but it depends on what kinds of nuts.

Eat what you normally eat leading up to the ride ... what you eat before the ride is not going to make any difference at all. Just go easy on the spicy stuff ... too much spice might make a difference. :D

It is much more important to eat regularly WHILE you are riding than to do anything special before the ride.

not sure if i understood...cook the past so that it is slightly firm that way the digestion is slower and the body can absorb it?

thx

Yes, it will slow the digestion and the energy will be absorbed at a slower constant rate. It was a tip from Chris' book.
