I love the one I have, it is a 2005 Kona Shred, it does everything I need it to and probably will for several years.

You'll find out quickly that this whole forum has collective wood for Kona, with a few exceptions. Personally, I have no experience with the brand.

MMMMMMMMMMM........KONA.............ARAGARAHHAGARARARARRARGRGRHHHH.
Seriously, the bikes are killer. I have a 94 or something Koa. It is one of the lightest (yet strong) frames I've seen for the price. Not to mention it is a beauty.

Well this is just my opinion but i think the new colors for this year are really weird. For example the stuff jr is army green and the stuff is like a really light yellow. Gotta love that stab supreme though

It's a "I can handle big mother-frikkers" It's the beefiest of the beefiest basically. I don't know exactly what style, maybe XC? Anyways...it's one beefy bike...for sure. It's what I ride.

I'm not digging all of the new paint schemes this year, but I still love the bikes. Now my 02 Cinder Cone, that was a beautiful bike :(

Kona always has odd colours. 2002 was their best year imo. Take a look at the old multi-coloured stinkies....PUKE..

As PWRD said, you could, but it would suck for it.

2005 Jake the Snake, love it to death. Sooooo fast and efficient compared to a mountain bike. Love it sooo much I might become one of those nuts who races XC on a cross bike and just runs the technical sections.

Wifes got a 2003 Kona Lana'i, which I've upgraded some parts on that came off my Rocky Mountain. It's a very nice bike as well, looks ace for the cost, rides nice.

I'm most likely going to get one myself and set it up for road duty. 52 tooth big ring, 11-23 cassette, and 700 x 28 tires. Sort of a big boy roadie.

I've got a 2005 Kona Blast. Since everyone's talking colour schemes, mine is a pretty neat simple black and grey (see image).

The Blast is a notch below the Cinder Cone. The Cinder Cone is rated really, really well over at MTBR.com. I didn't get the Cinder Cone because I was already going above what I thought I'd spend by going with the Blast. I love the Blast, though. Great bike. For the XC family, all of the following bikes share the same frame (Kona 7005 Butted Aluminum): LANA'I | HAHANNA | FIRE MOUNTAIN | BLAST | CINDER CONE | CALDERA
What does differ amongst these are the components. So if you are looking at the Cinder Cone and thinking of upgrading the forks and the pedals, you may be able to save some money by going a notch lower and swapping out the parts from the Blast. There are other components that differ obviously but you get the idea.

It's not until you get to the KULA | KULA DELUXE that you get the lighter racing frame (Easton Ultralite Race).

My Dad has a 2001 Kona Kileaua (sp?) and its a darkish yellow. It's a little different but i think its cool. I should be getting a 2005 Kona Shred in a few weeks. I've heard really good things. Im ,however, somewhat scheptical on the shocks. Any feedback? maybe this will help KonaMtBker275 get his question answered.

Friend of mine has a coiler. If I had the money, I would have got it instead of a Shred.
