Alright here's my situation. I hope this thread gets in because it's not completely about cycling. However, I am sure the info I get will be used on my rides too. I absorb everything.
OK I don't know if any of you have heard of Hoop-It-Up 3on3. Well, if you haven't it's a basketball tournament that is held in various cities in Canada and the US. I have competed in it for the past two years and intend to this year as well (July 20-21-Toronto).
My question is: How can I get the most out of my body? I would like to know what I should eat and how I should exercise during the days and week(s) leading up to this event.
For your info: I ride to work 3-4 times a day with the total distance of 20 miles per day (with a couple tough hills in there). I play basketball approx. 3 times a week for about 2-3 hours (playing hard, and I expect it to increase). That is pretty much all the exercise I get. Oh yeah, I do bike to the court which is another 6 or 7 miles.
Can someone help me with what I should eat up to and during the tournament; is all the biking (to and from work) a little too much for right before the tournament? Should I tone it down a little?
I want to be in tip-top shape this year both physically and mentally. I have cut out some "bad habbits" to get ready. I want to make the most of it. Thanks.
