Am interested in the gloves recumbent riders use. Looking for fingerless, non web backed and very thin padding. So far the Pearl White Line seem to have the thinnest padding. Any suggestions?

I use fingerless sailing gloves. No padding, very lightweight for summer.

Hi Greg,
When I got my v-rex, I realized I didn't need to wear gloves anymore. But since I was used to wearing them I continued to do so. Now that I have my Trike, I have found the gloves useful as I can lightly brush my front wheels after I ride through glass or freshley cut grass that I suspect may have thorns etc. Can't do much about the rear wheel...

interesting thought. I guess I'm just too much of a nudist. If I don't have to wear it, I don't. Especially here in texas.

So, I guess the moral of the story is, beware of the naked Baron guy. And whatever you do, don't smell the saddle!

There are a couple of good reasons for using gloves on a recumbent. First, they give a better grip of the bars, which is important if you have twist shifters & are riding on a hot day. Secondly, they protect your palms in case you fall. Padding is Bad for recumbent use, because it impedes your grip while offering no additional advantages.

Since Steve referred to Supergo: I'll add that their house-brand gloves seem to be minimally-padded, if I can believe the picture in the catalog. They are currently listed for $12.95 or 2 for $19.97 in the latest catalog.

I almost forgot to add: I've seen unpadded gloves in sporting goods stores, in the weight lifing section.

Good point. 2 reasons:

1) Better grip especially in the summer months
2) Better sun protection than sun screen.

Specialized makes a good glove called the Sport Glove that has minimal padding.

I buy generic gloves from the hardware store that cost $10 for 10 pairs. I cut off the fingers of one pair and use the others the way they were made. They protect my hands nicely.
