My wife and I went to check out a new LBS yesterday. Wonder of wonders, she let me come home with this. It was really her idea :) My trusty old 930 no longer fits me (the result of back, leg, and rib problems - as well as advancing age), and biking is really the only exercise left to me - short of walking, so this was important to her. Am I incredibly lucky or what?

The only planned change will be disc brakes for now. :p

Just under $1g.

There's a very cold north wind blowing here yesterday and today, and I'm still a bit shell-shocked from last september's run in with a loose dog (separated shoulder and 6 breaks on 5 ribs) but I do plan on going out and cruising around the neighborhood this afternoon :D .

What I found yesterday was that if you take this thing out into the sunlight, you had better be wearing sunglasses. I wasn't and it hurt my eyes it was sooooo bright.

So far, a very sweet ride. Bumps that should hurt like hell I don't even feel. It will still be awhile before the docs clear me for (real) trail riding, but I can play a bit on the smoother trails behind my house. :D

very nice!

i have found that it is very difficult to breathe with broken/cracked/bruised ribs in cold/cool weather. and sneezing and coughing just plain sucks.

Your my hero. Can you send some of that luck my way? My LBS has a Sworks Disc hardtail in, just my size. Drool.

Yeah, I know... The crash was way back in september and it's still hard to breathe. When it turns cold, I feel every break. Had a second ride on the bike - just a couple miles, but so far so good. It feels great! Much less bashing on the body - even on the road - than my old 930.

Swish!! Luck sent your way :) I'm not sure you want it though. As my wife's co-workers say, if we didn't have bad luck, we wouldn't have any luck at all. First my run-in with the dog in september (the broken ribs and separated shoulder), then a car accident in january - hit from behind by a car going at least 50 (aggravated the ribs, shoulder, and back(surgery 3 years ago)). On the plus side, my wife finally got the minivan she wanted :p Etc. Etc.

Thanks ... but, I found some luck last week, and gave it to my wife. She just got a paid summer internship with Texas Parks and Wildlife, in a town that will put her 10-20 minutes from her family. Since her goal is to work from them when she gets her degree, this is so a foot in the door.

I'll take a happy wife working at what makes her happy, than the Sworks. Cuz, maybe she will hep pay for the Sworks (hehehehehe)

AWESOME! Tell her congrats! Besides, a happy wife working at what makes her happy will make you happy when she lets you get that new bike!
