Introductions - Hi!! from Whidbey Island, WA

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I started riding in July of 2004. My love for the sport began with the Race the Rock Triathlon in Langley, WA. I bought a Giant OCR for the race and really fell in love with the challenge of it. Thus far I have completed the Tour de Whidbey Island, 104 miles, 7300 ft elevation gain (7hrs 42 mins) and a couple of other shorter rides. Currently I am training for the Seattle to Portland in July, 206 miles... in one day. I am moving to Florida in 3 months, which is really depressing, Washington is a paradise for all sports!, especially triathlon and road racing. I am looking for people to train with, while I am still here and for when I move to Pensacola, FL.
Welcome Gonefishing.
My wife spent a couple days on your island a few years back. Some kind of training seminar for her company. She didn't mention that it was a good biking venue. then again, where isn't a good biking venue.
Welcome to the forum, Gonefishing!!
I am quite familiar with your island - had my sailboat moored in Oak Harbor for a little over two years and rode quite a bit as well.
Enjoy all the beautifull scenic rides up there - Deception Pass is still one of my favorite places.
Best of luck to you in Florida - they do have a few (thousand-i believe) triathlons there, too.
Welcome to BikeForums. I love riding on Whidbey Island. Here's a couple of pictures from a ride with some friends last year.

I am sorry to hear that you're moving to Florida. Hopefully you'll find some spots equally a beautiful as Whidbey.
