Salutations!

After lurking about this forum for *ahem* a bit, I figured it was about time I admitted my presence and became a Real Member of This Community.

Let's see now... I lived in Italy between August and December of 2004 and started cycling for transportation. Periodically given over to fits of utility as I am, I shunned the commuter bike in favor of Ye Venerable Road Bike - an Alan Record from the mid-late '80's, complete with old school Dura-Ace and drop shifters. I was hooked - thirty pounds vacated my body, I started doing 100 kilometer day trips, and my overall health is far better. A success story, I suppose.

Now I'm back in the U.S., living in Portland, Oregon and commuting every day I can. I returned to discover that my Alan Record is *ahem* about 7cm to small for me. After 4 months of saving and working, I'm 2 weeks away from the arrival of my new bike. This is likely the right place for people who will intuitively understand my excitement at the thought of a new, gorgeous, well fitted bike.

I look forward to spending time here! Now, off to go contribute to acouple of active threads....
