Hello,

What's the best bike mechanics encyclopedia site or book? So: very complete (from simple to advance), photo/picture rich, step by step guides, and which contains the latest information?

Thanks!

Jos

Zinn and the Art of ____ Bike Maintenance (insert ROAD or MOUNTAIN)
Barnett's Manual

Both are usually available at your local library.

Bicycling Magazine recently came out with their latest edition of Bicycling Magazine's Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance and Repair. I had the previous version and picked this one up for the stuff on newer technologies and components. The older info is rewritten, too, and definitely worth the purchase. I use this, both of Zinn's guides, and a binder full of Park Tool's web site completely printed out.

I like Barnett's, too.

I second that. Both are great for pictures and detailed explanations, and they have almost everything you need to know about servicing just about any bike.

I v'e been a very geeky boy the last few years, reading all the bike mechanic books I could, then my partner got me the barnetts manuals for my birthday...
I like Barnetts because of how black and white they make everything. For me,
reading well organized, and consistent step by step procedures is the way to go.
Unfortunately you'll pay around $120 for the textbooks. Fortunately though, you can
also buy the online manual that is updated more often than the yearly editions.
