View Full Version : Emer'gen-C' Anyone use it?
I have a couple a day just for vitamins and energy, but what about using it like accelerade or gatorade?
Does it have enough electrolytes?
Funny that 2 different people mentioned this stuff in the last 24 hours. My boss threw a packet at all of us yesterday afternoon, then when I got home, I saw a thread where someone mentioned taking them when they had a cold. Then you mentioned it now. So maybe there is something to it. I haven't taken it, but the next time I'm feeling off, I'll use it and see what it does.

I bought a bunch, but keep forgeting to use it. I should probably use it as a daily thing.

I have been drinking the stuff for years and love em. Tip: you can get it the cheapest at Trader Joes, or online at amazon. They also taste better if you mix with sparkeling water and not flat.
It has every major vitamin - except not a perfect replacement because it is missing iron. The company actually has a different mix for electrolytes (I cant remember what it is called) but it mixes for a gallon instead of a glass. I throw it in my water bag on long rides and really like it. It tastes kinda funky though. The emergenCs still have electrolytes in it - but not as good as ole fashioned gatorade.

A gram of C is close to my bowel tolerance unless I'm sick and my body needs the stuff to repair itself.
In other words, the stuff gives me gas; but the electrolytes make it quite refreshing for a very occasional drink, or when I feel the tickle of imminent illness.
i drink two a day, one when i wake up and one before bed. I love the stuff!
What about just taking a multi-vitamin with gatorade? Is that the same?

Sounds like me, our Wal-Mart carries it. Bought a carton & usually just remember it after a really long ride.

No Calories, no sugar, no carbs in the emergenC - although i dont drink it in order to prep or recover from rides like I would gatorade. Plus its refreshing and tastes good with sparkling water. For me the biggest plus is that its liquid vitamins. Most multi-vitamins both make me extremely nauseous and give me bad breath.

I keep it around for those days when I feel tired, or when there is a feeling of illness, or when I am around a lot of sick people. I started drinking it a lot for a while and thought, maybe I was overdoing it. Our bodies just don't need max Vit C like that. What we don't use just goes to waste, literally. But, it's the best I've found for times like I mentioned in the first sentence.

I had some at a marathon expo and thought it was really good. Haven't seen it in stores, but I'm tempted to get some. Mainly for the taste.
So it's just the liquid form of a vitamin? I thought it was much more than that.
I also don't like sparkling water. This may not work for me after all. :(

It's a bunch of minerals, mostly in their ascorbate forms -- ie electrolytes. They hit the water and effervesce a little. Comes across as slightly sparkling lemon water. Or something.

I just wish it did not have so mch acid in it. gives me heartburn. dumping diet pop and acid containing drinks does wonders for my belly.
It's a great way to get vitamin C. I have stressful job and emergen-c is helpful in keeping me healthy and energetic.
