Mountain Biking - Is it just me?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone else like to just pick up a 12 pack, stuff it in your pack, & go riding the trails with a group of friends?

Guys like you are the reason there are so many "no trespassing" and "private property" signs all over the place.

C'mon. With a "group" of friends sharing only a 12-pack, it's not like they're gonna be all drunk and dangerous. Go ahead, stop for a couple beers. Don't be a sally. (Unless you're not 21 or older. In that case, just say No to drugs and alcohol. And hookers.)

It's the image it portrays. And while he may not be one of the ones that leaves his empties on the ground, many do.
There are less and less places to ride every year as a result.

I prefer to save the beers for after the ride, on the drive home :D . I can't imagine grinding to the top of of grueling climb, then popping a beer and NOT puking.
not everyone that drinks leaves their emptys.....
I was doing a solo ride a year or so back and saw a bear in the woods. It kind of freaked me out, so when I ran into a two other riders, I asked if I could tag along.
these guys were a bit older then me and when we stopped for a break, they broke out the beers and weed pipe. everytime we took a break, they'd pull em out.
those guys were FAST. some of the fastest and nicest guys I've ridden with.

HAhahaha poor americans...
anyways 12 pack between how many friends and how much time. Personally I can't get drunk drinking beer over a period of say 3 or 4 hours. It just doesn't cut the mustard
However, I don't do anything drunk anymore. My cousin was 'catching a buzz' went out to do some wheelies. Landed wrong, in a sober state he may have been able to recover but instead landed way off and sat on his heel...the consequences took him out for 9 months. It was an insignifigant chance but still...alcohol increase those chances.

i don't have a problem with people doing stuff like that as long as it is done in moderation. this also assumes they do it responsibly (pick up their trash, ride within their limits, etc.). i get really irritated with people that smoke cigarettes and use the world as their ash tray. how many people that you know pick up their cigarette butts? probably none of them. they flick them or throw them away no matter where they are. yes, i know we are talking about a pretty cardio extreme sport/ hobby but you would be amazed at the number of riders that i know who also smoke cigarrettes.

The one thing I have learned from my drinking career. Timing and Moderation.
Beer - 8 bucks for a twelve of Lone Star.
Getting a DUI on a bicycle - don't even want to know.
but having a post ride beer at the local Bar or Icehouse - Priceless.

i never liked alcohol doing any sports accept for maybe kickball, doh .i gets you exhausted way to quick ,dehydrates your body and somewhat slows down your brain even though you are not drunk.not worth it .way back i used to like a little puff here and there snowboarding, skating or wakeboarding but iam well over that, adrenalin is still the best .but i agree sitting on top of the world drinking a beer is the best thing ,but then go for an easy downhill.
I used to love getting hellbaked and going riding sometimes. For me it was a carryover from snowboarding and skiing where it was a regular occurance. I couldn't imagine doing it now though. It seemed like a good idea then for some reason, but I forgot why exactly
;)
What was I talking about again?

I like to make sure my route passes as many pubs as possible. One of my mates once took some vodka and coke in his camelback, though that is not recomended.

Agree with the getting baked and going boarding...works wonders. Never done anything to impair myself while riding, until I do I cant say how I would react...
